Grabbing Staley is akin to a heel turn for the org. I like it.

i didn't watch many bolts games but understand he mashed great decisions, like down and distance, 4th down calls, and click management.

Bearing in mind he is replacing Anthony Lynn I don't know that it is all that important

I think that is key point. How much did we hear about Lynn last year? Well let's hope that Staley sprinklers in what knowledge he has and Kyle takes it for what it is worth with a heavy filter. Let Sorenson do his thing and take from Staley what benefits the team.

Big takeaway for me is Kyle gets more aggressive. Not stupidly aggressive, like Staley, but more.

Best credential for Staley imo is that Fangio brought him along from CHI to DEN when Fangio got the Broncos HC gig. Most likely will serve as a smart guy Kyle can bounce ideas off of, and similar to the other rookie DCs (Saleh/Ryans), each one had a former DC on the staff.
Saleh had Jason Tarver and Ryans had Cory Undlin. Sorensen has Staley.

This hire is an indicator that Kyle doesn't think he needs help with his situational decision making. Hired one of the few dudes that are even worse than he is that regard

I wonder if he is here to step in and give Kyle imput on what to do and not to do. For instance, in a SB, he steps in and advises Kyle to run the ball and not pass it on a particular down. Which begs the question, was this hire pushed by ownership. Or, was this all Kyle?
I think it's a good addition.

He consistently went for unnecessary 4th downs in his own territory. And I believe he didn't get along with the press.
He isn't a good HC. But I think he suits this role ok.

If Sorensen doesn't work out they can replace him with Staley. He was a pretty good DC. Just not a good HC.

I feel like this could be the defensive version of Shanahan from an X's and O's standpoint. Maybe together they can finally get over the hump and win the whole thing.
