I like what I see. Some of those interior reps are really nice. I think the pass rush was improved today.

hmm I see he was playing OLB on base downs here. Floyd played a lot in Staley's (Fangio's) scheme as a 3-4 OLB. Are these two signings to give the 49ers the flexibility of playing five man fronts (3-4)?
Something to watch for. I wonder if OTA/TC reports will reveal any of this. I love the idea of being multiple when it comes to fronts. However, there is such a thing as biting off more than they can chew. Learning multiple techniques isn't easy for the front7.

I look forward to the amazing OL we draft this year, starting in 2025.
The way the guard market is going Banks will want 20 million per year: We might have to Draft 3 O- lineman. C/G, G, and a Taclke.
I'd have zero issues spending that amount of draft capital on the line. Hell make it 4 o-lineman.
Let me clarify my post. 3 O- Lineman and 2 D Lineman in the first 4 rounds:

Some background, Vic Fangio's final season with DEN was 2021. In 2022, new DEN head coach Nathaniel Hackett wanted some continuity with Fangio's scheme so he brought in Ejiro Evero to be the DC (Rams secondary coach in 2021). Hackett lasted one season and the staff was gone. In 2023, CAR brought in Ejiro Evero to be their DC where he coached Matos.
All this to ask, what is the relevance with bringing in Brandon Staley to be part of the staff, and bring in Floyd/Matos - two players that have played as standup OLBs in Fangio's scheme? But at the same time, they brought in two one gap DTs in Collins and Elliot (DTs in Fangio's scheme do not one gap).
Is this to become multiple in their fronts for 2024? Is it a gradual transition to the Fangio scheme that could take place in 2025? Something we should monitor in 2024.

https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/gm-report/chuck-pagano-explains-what-everos-defense-will-look-like-in-carolina
Former NFL head coach Chuck Pagano did a really nice breakdown of what Evero's defense will look like in Carolina in a recent article on The 33rd Team.
"He's a 3-4 guy, a Vic Fangio disciple. They two worked together with the San Francisco 49ers when Fangio was the defensive coordinator and Evero was a defensive assistant. A lot of Evero's fronts start in the 3-4; a lot of the coverage out of that base defense; and a lot of coverage out of that sub-defense are things we'll see in Carolina.

So basically it's a 2 yr $10M and change. This is why I told people to stop just taking the projected "total" divide it by the years and that's your per yr
