Might be my favorite pickup this free agency. Amazing we only traded a 7th round.

Funny you say that. I heard a pod that genuinely believes DT will still be the pick at 31. These guys are seen as depth.
Depends on who is available. They're in a much better position to go BPA now. Really expecting it to be an OT at this point.
I'd prefer they take the best player available, whether it's o line or d line. We still have picks in the 2nd and 3rd with a lot of ammo to move up, if we want to.
This draft is loaded with quality o and D line talent though. So I won't be surprised if that's the pick. Idc which side we pick on, as long as we get a stud.
i think there will be multiple quality linemen in the 2-4 rounds to get, as well. I imagine we will move around though. I don't see us drafting 10+ guys again.

Leonard Floyd is my favorite but this is my second favorite. The Elliot pick up felt underwhelming.

Still don't get why people are calling this acquisition "depth." He's 95% likely to be starting next to Hargrave, IMO.
Maiocco was already speculating that Elliot could be the starter, but Collins makes twice as much and played more snaps last season. Collins will start and Elliot will be the first guy rotating in.

Agree, that said he's a rotational not every down player. Plays about 60% of downs, historically. Ppl like to tout Elliott as a CLE 'starter' but reality is he logged 42% of snaps last year, and only 1 year above 60%. Collins has 7 such years.

"Through 16 starts with the Texans last season, he registered 41 tackles, including eight for a loss, 18 quarterback hits, five sacks, and a pass defensed."
That's not a trade, son. That's called a "solid." It's from Texans coach DeMeco Ryans. He just showed the 49ers how grateful he was for the chance he was given. We got this guy in a STEAL. This was no trade. It's more like armed robbery.

A lot of tackles. I like that he makes plays.

5 sacks, 8 TFL, 18 QB hits last season. Why did HOU trade him? Demeco doing us a solid?
Thank you. I agree th.

I think he's more 3tech than he is a nose tackle. Not sure on that though.

Elliot is just a Kinlaw replacement IMO. Kinlaw played both spots at times.

What a steal...think DeMeco did us a big favor. He isn't forgetting where he came from. I'm liking this revamped DL...lots of versatility, run stuffers, pass rushers and youth. Kosurek will be a busy beaver, but he'll love every minute of it. I know many weren't thrilled when Shanahan added Staley to the coaching staff, but I believe he's creating a defensive architecture much the same way he did with the Rams. So far, I'm really likin' it.

There aren't any OL FAs worth spending any money on. Gonna have to rely on draft for help there.
