Younger and surrounded by a rough cast for two of those seasons.

If Malik is so good why did DeMeco let him go for chump change? Salary cap casualty?

That's a pretty simplistic answer. So if Collins was so good, why did the Texans sign Autrey and Fatukasi?

In case there was any uncertainty, Collins has primarily played 3tech. He and Hargrave will mostly likely rotate to keep one another fresh.
(from June 2023)

Collins has been quietly one of Houston's best defensive players. Much of what the past two coaching staffs have valued in the 6-foot-2, 310-pound lineman along the defensive interior has been shrouded by record-low output on the defense. As the Texans' primary 3-tech defensive tackle (who lines up on the outside shoulder of the guard), Collins recorded nine tackles for loss and 3½ sacks last season.
(Demeco) Ryans said after Tuesday's mandatory workout. "....Both guys are smaller tackles that can attack, utilize their quickness, their speed to really puncture the offensive line."

We haven't even finished free agency let alone the draft, and I already like this DL group much more than last year's group. I just want a real nose, and I'll be happy.

Why not go further and say if Autrey or Fatukasi was so good why were they available? Why are any good players in free agency?

So we are just throwing a bunch of guys on the DL now.

Funny you say that. I heard a pod that genuinely believes DT will still be the pick at 31. These guys are seen as depth.
Depends on who is available. They're in a much better position to go BPA now. Really expecting it to be an OT at this point.
Let's hope so. I wouldn't be mad at a top C or G either.
BPA OL.
They're drafting Barton or NC and I will both jump off a bridge

This is kinda weird. Collins is clearly good though.

I know several of you are saying draft and to a point I agree, but how has that really worked out for us the last few years. Mckivitz mah, Burford straight trash, Banks ok but still up and down, and the rest cannot break a starting line up with only one really good linemen. Every year they address the dline when the secondary and o-line have remained a weakness.
No every draft is created equal. This OL class top to bottom is one of the best classes in the past 15 yrs.
Also who the hell was there in FA? You want to be hunt $100M? Those OG got massively overpaid. There wasn't s**t at OT.
when you have a good lineman you resign them.
Which will be comedy when we let Banks walk next year.
I thought you've said plenty of times that Banks isn't that good? So you want to resign a player that you don't think is that good? Can you make up your mind for once lol. Btw have you ever looked into split personality disorder?
No idea if he's good or not. He started out great and then fell off a cliff. I'm assuming since this is his contract year, he'll be at his best.
My bigger point is, even though this regime loves to resign its own, it's hard to imagine them paying market value for a G.
Do you think they'd resign him if he plays really well?
Haha...nothing to be split on in believing they need(ed) to make the OL a priority year after year.
Cliff is strong dude
