Lets not get too excited about Dobbs like Minny did. They were all on cloud 9 then loss what 8 in a row with Dobbs. Lol

It's a crazy opinion considering Min just let Dobbs go and signed Darnold at what 10-11 million for the season.

The market says Darnold is considerably more desirable than Dobbs, and Minnesota's opinion is especially clear on the choice.

Haven't been on this site for a while so this may have already come up, but in watching the Saints game, I got the impression that Dobbs played in the way that may have looked a lot like what the 49ers thought they would be getting when they drafted Trey Lance. A mobile QB who was willing to push the ball down the field. I suppose the irony is, that they ended up getting more of what they wanted out of a journeyman QB whose knocked around the league for a few years than they got from the guy they used three first round picks on. I watched the highlights of the last Dallas game and Lance was still missing those gimmes in the flat. He always seemed like a nice kid. He hasn't proven to be much of an NFL caliber QB, though.

Dobbs isn't a starter. Hes a backup who can do short passes and use his legs.

I'm still a Trey Lance fan. I think he can go the way Dobbs career has gone. He just needs reps, like Dobbs got. Key is that Dobbs stayed healthy and Trey has been injured. That slowed Trey's development drastically. I think - give Trey two more years and a lot of reps, and he'll approach Dobbs current level. I hope.

You mean preseason reps? He's not going to be getting reps in season, especially this year, without a couple injuries ahead of him.

Trey's career is on life support. Being a mid-lower end QB2 like Dobbs would be a big step at this point.

Same, I agree. He can start and win games for the 49ers if Brock is dinged up. He has the athleticism to be a starter in the NFL. He's better than Darnold in my book and much cheaper.
Meh…they all, always look good in preseason, then flame out at the critical times when they're needed.

I'd definitely take Dobbs over Darnold though.

Dobbs is a pretty good backup to be honest. Better than a lot of NFL backups.

In comparison to all these other recycled journymen QBs that pop up with a new team every few years?

This is where people show their personal hate on the guy, and come off ridiculous. Like his career is on life support? lol. If you watched that Raiders game, along with the great plays by that one CB..and mistakes from Trey as well... he still made some sick pass that few in the league, outside Pat Mahomes and Josh Allen, can make. He didn't let those ints affect his aggressiveness in meaningless game. He came right back firing. And it's not like Trey is a trouble maker or a bad teammate... so whatever happens in Dallas, he will still be given opportunities on another team.

Come back to the Trey Lance thread and we can debate this. Has absolutely nothing to do with hate.
