49ers sign QB Josh Dobbs

I hope we blow out the Jets so I can see Dobb's against the Jet's defense.

Surprised that he is qb3. I thought he looked better than that.

I believe Allen & Dobbs were running one of the other coaches offense in those pre-season games, so Kyle was probably evaluating based on running his offense in practice rather than what we saw on TV in the pre season. I forget who was calling the plays and why but it wasn't K.S.

Shanahan is full of s**t. It was obvious that Dobbs played much better than Allen in preseason. He just can't get over not having control of the situation. Dobbs is unpredictable, and more likely to improvise. High risk high reward. Allen is a pocket passer that will execute Shanahan's plays to a T.

So sick of this clown. God forbid Purdy gets hurt. Are we telling ourselves that we'd feel more comfortable handing the reigns to Brandon Allen ?! Brandon Allen ?! Over Josh Dobbs ?!

Well, Allen is probably better served to FILL IN for Purdy gameplan wise.

Maybe if a week of preparation is available Dobbs would start.

I looking forward to see Tanner Mordecai after a year on the Practice Squad, hopefully he won't be poached during the year!

If only Shanny had the insight. We all know he'll play Allen into the ground before he gives Dobbs a chance. Remember the only reason Purdy is even our starting quarterback is because both Trey and Jimmy went down with season ending injuries. Don't overstate the "genius" of Kyle Shanahan on the Purdy pick. If either Trey or Jimmy finish out that 2022 season, there's a chance Brock still playing backup to one of those has beens….

How is he full of sh*t when he has been doing this for the whole time here ?

This was predictable. Kyle is on record before and during preseason games saying as openly as he can that he doesnt value preseason games and values practice a lot more. Kyle's actions throughout the years have shown he doesnt like to play players who are new to his system and knowing the system often if not always trumps talent. This is why guys like Moore are still on the team. This is why many rookies have a late start unless they crush it right out of the gate.

I'm not saying it's a good thing, because to me Dobbs is a clear #2. But its not surprising at the least. Most importantly it's very consistent with what Kyle has done here.

Dobbs can only play well when s**t is hectic, he can't run a system and is why Dobbs is back up journeymen

I'm not surprised that Allen is #2. He knows the offense better and is solid. He can step in without having to change much of the offense. Dobbs reminds me of Camilo Doval - a lot of talent but too wild. Just get the ball over the plate!

…as opposed to Allen who is a proven commodity as a backup and would excel in that role ?
