Then why even bring Doobs in to begin with? There's no way on earth that Allen outplayed Dobbs! NONE! I support Shanny, but he completely wasted Dobbs time. This shows that this was never a real competition. for QB2. If Kyle wanted Allen to be QB2 then he should have never signed Dobbs, because it's clear now that Dobbs never really had a chance for QB2. Like Purdy, the only way Dobbs has a chance getting on the field is via injury. If I were Dobbs I'd demand to be released.
Last I checked Dobbs is still on the roster right? Or did he get released? I'm away from home on mobile so I don't feel like checking. Assuming he's still with us then that's very good reason why we brought Dobbs in. He was our best option for QB3 and he was to push for QB2. Kyle after the Trey experiment had settled on what he wants at QB and it looks a lot like Purdy.
He wants a guy that can run the core offense efficiently and when needed make off script plays if the situation calls for it. He's not looking for the wow plays the rest of us are seeing during preseason games. Kyle sees that as unsustainable and as a gimmick.
Dobbs because of his intelligence and his plus athleticism will make for the perfect guy to emulate in practice squad every skill set of QB we face and as such if he approaches his role as Brock did once he gets his opportunity to step up I have no doubt he should be able to make the most of it.
For all we know Dobbs very well could surpass BA as QB2 this season. Dobbs just has to stay in a system and get the reps for a couple years under competent coaching. I'm hopeful he will embrace his situation
