This shows that this was never a real competition. for QB2. If Kyle wanted Allen to be QB2 then he should have never signed Dobbs, because it's clear now that Dobbs never really had a chance for QB2. Like Purdy, the only way Dobbs has a chance getting on the field is via injury. If I were Dobbs I'd demand to be released.

Btw, this is what I think Willie Snead referred to. He got a lot of crap from people thinking it was about him but I think he was saying it in general. It's a mountain to climb within this org if they bring you in and you're competing with someone who has system knowledge.
Demanding to be released is kinda stupid though. Dobbs can still be #1, and this QB room tends to get hurt. I wouldnt do it if I were Dobbs, at all. Rosters are set, he is paid and QB2/3s dont get to make demands.
The decision for the number 2 job isn't solely based off of what we as fans can glean from watching preseason games.

The team has had the opportunity to see both guys in mincamps, OTAs, TC, practices and off the field in both the film and meeting rooms that none of us are privvy to.
Lol getting this upset over Dobbs. Any excuse to take shots at the coach though, that's what it's really about.
He's moved to a new team 10 times since 2017. I don't know what people were expecting.

Again, if Shanny truly trust Allen over Doobs (which I have no issues with) then why even waste Dobbs' time in a so-called "competition" for QB2 in the first place? If Shanny has trust issues then don't bring in players at positions that you have high trust in. So no, demanding to be released isn't stupid. Dobbs would be QB2 on most NFL teams. Can we say the same for Allen? Again, I have no problems with Shanny trusting Allen more. I just think that, since that's the case, Shanny has wastes Doobs time and, if I were him, I'd demand to be released so I can be, at the very least, be QB2 on another team with a real chance to actually play. Because nobody can say with a straight face that Allen outplayed Dobbs in the preseason.

This. The hysteria from some posters over Dobbs is laughable. Hints at racism… thinking he should demand a release.

This is a 2 million dollar a year lower end QB2, at best. Nobody is banging down the door for his services and it's easily believable that Allen would be a superior fill in option given his experience in the system and similar style to Purdy.

Question: Who has a better chance at being QB2 on another team, Dobbs or Allen?

Last I checked Dobbs is still on the roster right? Or did he get released? I'm away from home on mobile so I don't feel like checking. Assuming he's still with us then that's very good reason why we brought Dobbs in. He was our best option for QB3 and he was to push for QB2. Kyle after the Trey experiment had settled on what he wants at QB and it looks a lot like Purdy.

He wants a guy that can run the core offense efficiently and when needed make off script plays if the situation calls for it. He's not looking for the wow plays the rest of us are seeing during preseason games. Kyle sees that as unsustainable and as a gimmick.

Dobbs because of his intelligence and his plus athleticism will make for the perfect guy to emulate in practice squad every skill set of QB we face and as such if he approaches his role as Brock did once he gets his opportunity to step up I have no doubt he should be able to make the most of it.

For all we know Dobbs very well could surpass BA as QB2 this season. Dobbs just has to stay in a system and get the reps for a couple years under competent coaching. I'm hopeful he will embrace his situation

Dobbs would have the better chance to walk into a situation off the street and bake a cake from scratch but here in this system it appears that BA has had a couple years to be able to regurgitate the whole menu

Just give Dobbs time and if he grasps this system his talent will eventually win out

Trey Lance left under similar circumstances and as we see he's still QB3. He'd have been better off staying here

Yea talent doesn't always win out. It's grasp of the system and your expected floor in performance is considered and it's a low floor if you've not yet mastered this systems principles. That's why the average fan such as myself has difficulty understanding why BA would beat out Dobbs based off preseason performances

I understand what you're saying, but it really don't address my point. Dobbs is the better QB. He's won more games as a starter. If Allen and Dobbs were both on the market Doobs would be scooped up far sooner than Allen would. The tape that Allen and Doobs put out this year, plus the tape that they put out last year, would warrant Dobbs a QB2 job far over Allen on 99% of NFL teams. Anyone who says different tells lies to themselves. Would I like Dobbs to stay? Absolutely. It's best for this team. Is that the best for Dobbs? Absolutely not. And if I were him I'd want to be released because QB3 means you're buried in obscurity.

You can't be serious! Trey Lance was traded.
