Buddy I'm glad you chimed in but it would behoove you to consider that a guy we traded three firsts for, that had to sit behind Jimmy and then lost his job due to injury and the backups backup who came in and played otherworldly got injured himself and this caused Trey to have to battle all summer to be QB2, might then ask for a trade and a fresh start

Brock came in and played next level but even I thought at the time that how could Trey lose his job due to injury and then not have a chance to win it back the entire summer? Well I guess I was wrong because what Brock showed last season was the reason why Trey was demoted.

It's reasonable Trey would have felt he was dealt a raw deal but fact is he came out of college too early and he should have stayed and played four years just as Brock did and his time in Dallas in the fresh start he asked for is showing he needs time and that we made the right decision on him

I was referring to his play with the Vikings when he was traded. He missed camp and preseason and did not play well with them, so it's wishful thinking to believe he could ask for release and improve his standing elsewhere after missing camp and preseason with another team.

I agree Dobbs should stay here with a team that obviously wants him due to us keeping 3 QBs and if he does he will be better positioned to challenge for QB2 next year. He can't keep
bouncing around. He has to stay in one place and master an offensive system

He may very well have asked for a trade. That doesn't mean we didn't want to trade him.

We aren't eating money and selling a QB we want to keep to a conference rival for a 4th round pick, after paying him 20+ million dollars, simply because he asked.

He sucked. We moved on and got what we could get for him.

Again, that don't answer my question. I'm not asking about who'd be beating down the door for whom. I asked who has a better chance at being QB2 on another team, Dobbs or Allen? that's it, that's all.

The only team that had to make that choice made it the way they did.....

there is a heck of alot of assumptions made about who can run what....for all we know Dobbs might be more talented, but only know half the playbook..... or...check this out....Allen more able to accurately run the scout team due to familiarity with OTHER teams playbooks.

There is alot more that goes into carrying a clipboard then who has more upside.

Things could change as the year goes own, but I suspect the 49ers made the call they did for a reason, and they don't care what other teams would do.

Cant wait until this clown gets fired. Was listening to one of Grant's podcasts. Glad to hear that there's whispers that front mgmt is all in and if Shanahan doesn't deliver he ends up on the hot seat.

What's comical is getting this upset over QB2 and QB3 when we're screwed if either of them has to take the field for any meaningful snaps.

But that's not what it's about is it? Your post pretty much spells it out clearly. Even glass isn't that transparent.

Man, get a grip. My one year old cries less than you for more valid reasons.

Right, because as we all know this team never loses their starting QB for prolonged periods in any given season. Or have we forgotten that we were practically relegated to QB 4 CMC vs Philly a couple years back.

it never ceases to amaze me the lengths some of you will go to defend Shanahan. The fan club alone is already stating that Allen is better than Dobbs and would be the chosen number 2 on any team when we know that would never be the case.

Can't wait until this dope ends up on the hot seat after he fails miserably AGAIN this season.

I said Dobbs or Allen make no difference. Neither of them will win us enough games if Brock goes down. I know it, you know it, which is why it's obvious this has nothing to do with Dobbs or Allen.

You can throw around the Kyle fanclub label all you want if it makes you feel better but you're exactly the same, if not worse, but on the opposite end of the spectrum. You're doing exactly what you dismiss others for.

Might want to think about that once you find some grass to touch.

if the end goal is the superbowl....you might be right.......

but......

Things happen in the NFL.

Teams do get hot... and if the defense is good enough....anything can happen.

I am sure people thought the same things about Steve Bono, come to find out the only thing that would have saved that season is if Steve Young when down sooner.

I am sure Trent Green going down was a death knell too...until the bag boy from the grocery store showed up....

Heck didn't the Eagles recently do the same thing with their back up?

Stuff happens
Has Kyle ever liked a minority QB? Ever?

Why would this mean that? Dobbs is on the team. He obviously likes him. He simply likes Allen in the QB2 role slightly more right now.

He drafted Lance after a huge trade up.

Dobbs is a cracker. Maybe not a saltine but minimally a wheat thin, during sunny months a triscuit at best, so that whole minority thing doesn't apply to his analytics.
Ugh

Not good enough to be above Purdy/Allen/Dobbs on SF's depth chart and roster.

Insinuating racism is some b******t. Kyle isn't going to jeopardize trying to win because he doesn't want a black guy being QB2. Gimme a break - it's simply an asinine idea.
