Would you still want him if his last name wasn't Gore?

Great question

Of course not

I didn't want Gore when we first got him... but then you saw how he performed on the field. It seems Gore Jr. runs the same way. So why wouldn't we want him? 🤷🏾‍♂️

You didn't want Gore in that draft? Either the injuries put you off, or you must not have watched him play at the U because Frank Gore was absolutely incredible. In fact, I used to argue that Frank could've been the greatest RB ever if he didn't tear up his knees because he lost a significant amount of explosiveness and long speed after those injuries.

Gore Jr. doesn't have close to the natural talent that Frank Gore had. Frank was bigger, faster, stronger and better in every possible way. I don't think anyone would be talking about Frank Gore Jr. on here if his last name wasn't Gore.

I'm sure he'll have a helluva time on the sidelines watching CMC take all the reps.

Yeah the injuries on BOTH knees scared me.... and back then I felt break away speed was important. Gore changed that.

As far as Gore Jr. from the highlights I've seen he looked like his dad... but I'll take your word for it if you have followed his career.
We trying to trade Mitchell or what?

Nah, just filling a spot on Special Teams. He was used largely on ST in Green Bay and was quite effective.

Nah we needed more RBs to not use

We ought to. He's one tackle away from going on the IR. Special when healthy, but that's rare. Get what we can for him before he walks in free agency.

A guy we will completely forget exists until he explodes for a big run in the 4th quarter of a preseason game. Then we will have guys saying he should stay over Mitchell until he is ultimately released

Mitchell is always sitting. How many carries did our 2 and 3 rbs get last year? Last thing we need is another one.

Thats what I'm saying. I like Mason. Taylor is signed. Draft a Guerendo or Tyrone Tracy and get in another rookie contract.

Hopefully this can take the place of us trying to find the next Sermon / TDP in the draft

I hope they're not even thinking about wasting picks on a RB.

Give Mason some got damn more carries.

CMC is 28 next year, Mitchell is hurt all the time, Mason is unproven. I'm not mad if they go after a Benson, Wright, Brooks or Corum. Allen or Lloyd in R4 I'm not mad at either.

No
welcome, pt junior

Matt Breida got us a 6th right? I'd be happy with that
This deal likely is a 1yr $1.055M league minimum deal, with nothing GTD, since he was a RFA that wasn't tendered, ala Chase Lucas, who was a ERFA who wasn't tendered, and signed a 1yr non GTD $985K deal.

This won't preclude the 49ers from adding someone like Frank Gore Jr., or someone else in the late rounds or as a UDFA, I hope they avoid the 3rd rd RB pick, it didn't work with Sermon or Davis-Price.
