Pure blocking TE with enough athleticism to get out and make some plays as a receiver from time to time.

Its actually impressive because blocking was one of his weaknesses coming out of college but he's turned it into a strength and has become very reliable in that regard. I'm guessing that there's little guaranteed money and at worst he's a solid camp body.

Cast off with lil something in the tank will learn errything there is to learn from his father, George
Journey man . Just give all the reps to Latu and develop him.
brought back memories of 04 when JP went down and our best player was a TE named Eric #82
power 14 speed 11 hands 9
that's 70 points right there

wonder how Seibert stacks up

I liked Eric Johnson. I think he was from Harvard. He is also married to Jessica Simpson. I would love to have an EJ type TE opposite Kittle.
Maybe I am crazy or asking too much but I rather have a pass catching TE as their primary skill with adequate blocking abilities. Run two TE sets with both a threat to catch the ball.
Ok. Well at least we've positioned ourselves to not have to reach in the draft. Weak TE class. Hopefully the sophmores step up. If not, this guy will make the roster as a blocking TE and proven STer.
Sleeper pick with that "Mattress Firm" patch
Maybe he can stay inside and block and have Kittle go out for more pass plays.

Kittle is out pretty often on pass plays. I do want to cut down on his blocking usage as a means of keeping him healthy, but he's out there a lot. If anything, I wish he was option 1 or 2 more often because he's still pretty fast and can create mismatches. He went over 1000 yards on the season and had 90 targets. Only way he's getting more, given we are a run first team, is to make him option 1 or 2 on more pass plays.
Likely a vet minimum signing with either a roster or signing bonus or workout bonus, teams can give up a max of $167,500 to get a players cap number to count less than what he'd actually get paid, so only $985K counts, instead of what is either $1.125M or $1.21M depending on accrued years, $1.125M is 4-6, $1.21M is 7+ accrued years.
I bet this dude could block 5 times better than Barford
Eric Saubert's 1yr terms, $1.125M BS($400K fully GTD), $71,250 signing bonus, $71,250 roster bonus for making week 1 53-man roster, $25K workout bonus, only $985K of his $1.125M base counts against the cap as it's a veteran minimum salary benefit deal.
