Lets face it, he's not as good as some other guys but you know who is? Pat Mahomes.

That last catch was the most clutch of all. This guy is cooking early. I hope he and Purdy continue to build chemistry.

He's incredibly good. Starting to like this pick much better. Great speed, excellent hands and tremendous routes.

I remember when a bunch of people here wanted the 49ers to just leave him out for the whole season because there was no way he'd be able to contribute after missing all those games.

He just looks like a guy who "belongs." You watch some guys, even as rookies and they just look like they have it and are going to be something in the league while others you're really unsure of.

💯
Really excited for his future on this team. My buddy who's a Gator alum has been waxing poetic about him for a while. Just needs to stay healthy.

Speed for a WR matters, but it's a bit overrated by the public.
I think the biggest thing...is how speed is generated.
I see the poster child for this is now Adams....but for decades here on this forum it was Jerry Rice.... The rumor always was he ran a 4.7 or 4.8....and then his team went into damage control and tried to get the "official" time written down as 4.61 or something like that.
I like that the NFL is moving more towards MPH...since that paints a better picture than 40 times. The way 40 times are ran now, and coached so heavily has almost ZERO correlation to the game of football. Unless a WR is given a perfectly clean release on a go pattern.
I always think back to high school track and football, since my generation was the first one that started to coach the 40 time. I was lucky enough to play HS ball with two NFL players, and play against 2 or 3 other NFL players. I can tell you first hand, I was not on the same planet a Terrell Buckley though we were both 4.4ish guys. Irving Spikes (Miami RB) was a 4.8 guy and out ran me on the regular at practice, and outran Buckley in a game.
So many things create separation...reaction time, size as you mentioned, catch radius, craftiness of the QB with back shoulder stuff, twitchy shifts like Jerry's quick slant, play design.... probably tons of things that do not even come to mind right now....
Straight up speed though.... NY is 200% correct.....we see "speed guys" fail alll the damn time in the NFL. Especially since "speed" really has several components to it...and 40 yard dash is not really great at showing them. For Rice it was always his twitch off the line, and his long stride in the open field...his 40 time was so bad because he had a great first gear, and great 4th gear...but 2nd and 3rd was a bit muddy. Once Jerry Rice got shoulder to shoulder with a defender at stride...not even Dion Sanders, or Darrel Green had enough 40 time to deal with him.
I think we are good loving all the things Ricky does right, and just take his wheels as an added bonus....

Makes me question why we caved to Aiyuk.
