It's tough when Ladd McConkey, who was pretty much universally ranked higher than Pearsall and many pundits had mocked to us, already has 850 yards

Ladd was my pick if we were going WR in the first. Thought he fit the bill with what we like.

he also had a full off season to Herbert and is their top WR. That's not the case here with Ricky. He's simply not getting the targets that Ladd is…doesn't mean he's not getting open.
Yea the difference with him and Ladd is that Ladd can get open on the outside versus man coverage while Ricky is just a slot guy so far.

Jennings wasn't getting many targets either runtil late lasyt season and even more this year. Sometimes it takes some time to catch on.

It takes the QB to throw the ball to them also.. there's only one ball

Possibly. On the other hand I saw a play where Pearsall beat his man but ran his route like a post when Brock expected a seam route, resulting in Purdy's deep ball missing the mark by about a foot (small margin). Ricky has skills but I agree with you I'd take Ladd at this point no question. To be fair to Pearsall, he did miss the entire spring training and first number of games this season so he doesn't have the reps Ladd does.

Side note: What i saw from Brock yesterday was finally some assertiveness on the field and the offense responded. For example, on the play I mentioned above you can see Brock visibly angry with Pearsall's route and going to him afterwards. Leadership.

Yeah can't fairly judge Pearsall without an offseason with Purdy, just saying it sucks to watch the other guy blow up
Sure would be nice to get him and Cowing involved
I'd like to see some screens or Jet sweeps for RP. Let's see what he can do.

All of those type of designed plays that are going to Tyshun should be going to Ricky.

speaking of Cowing....is this the game where he returns a punt more than 5 steps before he falls forward to the ground?

This…WTF you got to lose Kyle!!!???
At this point no reason not to have Pearsall and Jennings as our base WR and try cowing out as the slot. Let's use the rest of the season to see what they've got.
Ricky once again got open several times and didn't get the ball and should have had a TD last night. These last 3 weeks they have to force him the ball a few times to get Purdy and his chemistry going for next year. Kyle has to stop forcing the ball to Deebo

Deebo needs to be benched and Pearsall should start moving forward.
He had a step on the defender on that deep play. That's all you need and exactly what you want.

More than we can say for other receivers.
