Ladd having year! Dude made so much sense for SF if they were going WR end of the first
Ladd McConkey is just light years better. It's not even in the same galaxy. He's faster, quicker, better routes, better hands, always open, putting up huge numbers as a rookie. I didn't want a WR at all. I wanted offensive or defensive line help. I still stick with that. But if you did want a WR. Wow.

1 - 31 - Pearsall.
2 - 34 - McConkey

How does this team always find a way to miss or reach or get the wrong guy?

Brutal if pearsall doesn't pan out and could have had Ladd
Hindsight is always 20/20. Lad was the better pick. Ricky may show up next year or eventually join Bell and the other receivers that amounted to great practice squad players. Not ready to give up on him yet..
The scout in charge of WRs should be fired.

imagine recommending a 24 year old transfer portal baby over a 22 year old national champion who was a major producer on those teams.

The entire scouting department should be fired.

I just don't see how it made sense. Then or now. Because he's 1 1/2 inches taller? Everything else is better with Ladd McConkey. I'm not mad at Pearsall at all and this is no criticism to him. More of a criticism of Shany and Lynch and the scouting department. Because it started with the tragedy of being shot in the chest I give this entire 1st year a full mulligan to Pearsall. It's nothing about him. I hope he fully recovers and gets better next year. Start judging next year with a full offseason and more health and practice. It's just this dumb team and their terrible decisions that I hate.
Pearsall is the perfect example as to why this season has imploded for SF....and that you can't judge anything by it. The guy got shot ffs. No way I'm comparing his year or abilities to anybody else until I see at least one full season of relative normalcy for a player/NFL team.

This. Niners needed an outside wr that can get open. Not a slot wr. It's not on RP. This is on our FO

This post ignores that all NFL teams get it wrong all the time.

There is no science to drafting...let's not forget Justin Jefferson being the 5th WR taken and the 22nd overall pick in his draft class.

Yup. Kyle always smartest guy in the room syndrome strikes again.

He's a SLUG at picking players. He can be really bad at that.
No question MCConkey is having a much better year but then he didn't get shot during training camp and miss valuable time. His team is also having a much better year and hus QB is better than Brock. I learned long ago to not judge players off their first year performance. Many struggle in year one and go on to have a good career while some look great the first year and then fizzle after that. As far as speed they're virtually the same. 4.41 vs 4.39.

What ever happened to not being able to evaluate draft picks until they've had 3 years in the league?

Maybe Ladd will end up being better but I think Pearsall would have had a good year for the chargers if he was there. Ladd has a future HOF QB and gets a lot of opportunities to make plays. Kyle hasn't found away to use Pearsall to maximize his potential. Also, there have been several instances of Ricky being open on a route and the ball doesn't go his way. It shouldn't be understated how much the gun shot set him back this year.

Lmao. Let's settle down with Herbert being a future HOF.
