Always thought he's gonna be a really, really good WR. He's perfect with a QB like Purdy.
I'm super happy for Pearsall to have a game like he did against the Lions. The guy could have died four months ago. Such a cool story to see him come back and perform at that level.

I would have preferred either an Edge or OT but there was no value left for either of those two.

As I said earlier, we needed a strong route-runner who could beat man coverage. AT THE TIME, Aiyuk was a big question mark as to whether of not he would remain in SF. Consequently, in a sense, he forced the FO to grab Pearsall. Last night showed the wisdom of that move.

Now let's go fix both lines in this next draft...
I wanted Powers Johnson or Frazier seemed like a no brainer to me, you only take Pearsall there if you've already decided to move on from Aiyuk in my opinion.

...and that was the issue. They didn't want to move on from him but he had made it clear HE was ready to move on if they didn't meet his demands. To do that, it would have imbalanced their plans for future signings. If you recall, Lynch was on the phone with Pittsburgh making the final deal when BA walked into Kyle's office and said he wanted to stay in SF. Kyle was jazzed to hear this and RAN up the stairs to Lynch's office to tell him not to finish the deal. Had they not drafted Pearsall they would have had to pay near-Jefferson money to keep him. We came that close to a cap mess.

Yes, it would have been nice to have a center, but again, that is in hindsight. Brendel had improved during the 2023 season and given hope he would continue. Of course, we all know that failed but hindsight is always 20/20. It is what it is. I'm glad we have Pearsall and trust the focus will be on the LOS come draft time.
Then they shouldn't have drafted Pearsall if they didn't want to move on from Aiyuk.

Not following through on the trade was a huge mistake in my opinion.

Brendel improved or not was a below average center that clearly needed to be upgraded and a competent center was much more valuable to this team than a 4th WR.

I hope your trust in the in the offseason focus is rewarded.
Gets open. Good, because this is super important in this offense. Lower body strength needs more strength, he got stonewalled a couple of times in space by some near-practice squad players. Hes def no prime Deebo in space.

Hands which were supposed to be his strength are a bit inconsistent. One handed catch was nice but also couple of bobbles and the TD catch while tough I thought he couldve brought in with less struggle.

Should have had two TDs. At least this game gave me some hope he can be a very good weapon.

They didn't have a choice with Aiyuk. He wasn't going to sign here, hence the deal was made with Pittsburgh. BA was the one who called it off and ShanaLynch were delighted.

Just imagine where we would have been if BA had left and we were left with an underperforming Deebo and JJ as our top two WRs. Neither can beat man coverage and that is what beat us in the SB last year. Lynch would have been justifiably on the hot seat had they not made a strong pick to replace BA.

I am beyond ready for an improvement at Center, however, Brendel graded out right in the middle of the Centers last year. IOW, he was average. This year teams have schemed to double him and he has not been able to respond.
Played like a #1 last night.

Looking forward to him lighting it up next season.
How quickly the narrative changes. All in all, we have a really good class and this wasn't the case before last night. If they can follow it up with another, we can be a top 5 team again next season (provided we have good health).

This. Nice to see Slick Rick ball out.

You value Aiyuk way more than I do and his contribution to this team was nonexistent prior to his injury I'll be shocked if he comes close to living up to that contract.

Regardless of were he grade out it was obvious he was one of the weak links there was talk of replacing him with Feliciano prior to his injury so whatever improvement he showed wasn't enough to solidify him as the starter in their eyes.

On Aiyuk, the trajectory of his career showed he has improved every single year until this season. The only thing Aiyuk hasn't demonstrated is that he can be the top target/guy the offense runs through. Hope his professionalism and pride pushes him there, but other than that, there's no reason to think a healthy Aiyuk won't give us 1200+ yards next year.

Better pass pro would help a guy like him (and Pearsall for that matter) because he'd have even more time to get open.

As for Brendel, I totally agree. He's gone down ever since year 1 and even if someone graded 2023 as average, we still should've been looking for a replacement. You can't be average at best in 4 out of 5 OL positions, not in this offense. Hoping he's bounced off the roster this year.
excited for Ricky and Brock to get more in sync and work on timing for next year. This could be a long term security blanket for Brock. lots to look forward too with Ricky

Yes, I do value Aiyuk higher than you. I look back at last season and see a guy who beat man coverage. He was the only one. Last season earned him the contract. This year, due in large part to holdout, he never got into form. As to his injury, there have been plenty of guys who have had the same or worse injury and come back to the prior year's form. Time will tell.

As to Pearsall, I am very glad he is on the team. I hope Brendel isn't.

The main reason he was chosen was his ability to get open quickly. He and Aiyuk are the only two of that type on the team. Especially with a suspect OL, getting open quickly is critical. I look at Pearsall and want to see Amon-Ra St Brown. He is as close to the prototype as any in the league in the niche.

Hope this game & absolutely great offseason help him make a huge jump next year to help this offense out even more

Why the negative take? And why toss out a make believe Pettis stat? Ricky is the opposite of Pettis for many reasons
