I would have preferred either an Edge or OT but there was no value left for either of those two.

As I said earlier, we needed a strong route-runner who could beat man coverage. AT THE TIME, Aiyuk was a big question mark as to whether of not he would remain in SF. Consequently, in a sense, he forced the FO to grab Pearsall. Last night showed the wisdom of that move.

Now let's go fix both lines in this next draft...
I wanted Powers Johnson or Frazier seemed like a no brainer to me, you only take Pearsall there if you've already decided to move on from Aiyuk in my opinion.

...and that was the issue. They didn't want to move on from him but he had made it clear HE was ready to move on if they didn't meet his demands. To do that, it would have imbalanced their plans for future signings. If you recall, Lynch was on the phone with Pittsburgh making the final deal when BA walked into Kyle's office and said he wanted to stay in SF. Kyle was jazzed to hear this and RAN up the stairs to Lynch's office to tell him not to finish the deal. Had they not drafted Pearsall they would have had to pay near-Jefferson money to keep him. We came that close to a cap mess.

Yes, it would have been nice to have a center, but again, that is in hindsight. Brendel had improved during the 2023 season and given hope he would continue. Of course, we all know that failed but hindsight is always 20/20. It is what it is. I'm glad we have Pearsall and trust the focus will be on the LOS come draft time.
Then they shouldn't have drafted Pearsall if they didn't want to move on from Aiyuk.

Not following through on the trade was a huge mistake in my opinion.

Brendel improved or not was a below average center that clearly needed to be upgraded and a competent center was much more valuable to this team than a 4th WR.

I hope your trust in the in the offseason focus is rewarded.

They didn't have a choice with Aiyuk. He wasn't going to sign here, hence the deal was made with Pittsburgh. BA was the one who called it off and ShanaLynch were delighted.

Just imagine where we would have been if BA had left and we were left with an underperforming Deebo and JJ as our top two WRs. Neither can beat man coverage and that is what beat us in the SB last year. Lynch would have been justifiably on the hot seat had they not made a strong pick to replace BA.

I am beyond ready for an improvement at Center, however, Brendel graded out right in the middle of the Centers last year. IOW, he was average. This year teams have schemed to double him and he has not been able to respond.
You value Aiyuk way more than I do and his contribution to this team was nonexistent prior to his injury I'll be shocked if he comes close to living up to that contract.

Regardless of were he grade out it was obvious he was one of the weak links there was talk of replacing him with Feliciano prior to his injury so whatever improvement he showed wasn't enough to solidify him as the starter in their eyes.

Yes, I do value Aiyuk higher than you. I look back at last season and see a guy who beat man coverage. He was the only one. Last season earned him the contract. This year, due in large part to holdout, he never got into form. As to his injury, there have been plenty of guys who have had the same or worse injury and come back to the prior year's form. Time will tell.

As to Pearsall, I am very glad he is on the team. I hope Brendel isn't.
I totally disagree that he earned that contract, that type of money should be reserved for guys that are the focal point of the offense & opposing defenses not for a guy that sits 4th on the food chain.

I agree on the last part I think Pearsall has the potential to be very good as far as Brendel goes I can't imagine we get completely shed of him this season he probably sticks around as depth unfortunately.

Keeping Brendel and/or Moody would be a colossal mistake. They ran our offense life's this season. Bringing back harmful players will kill the locker room.

I thought this was about Slick? And remember he had a bullet hole in his a$$
I'd love him to put on some muscle and then be used the way Amon-ra St Brown plays

I hope not (Brendal)

Free Agency, Hennessy, Nugent and a rookie should make Brendal expendable.

Same here but I expect him back happy to be wrong though.
