NYniner picked him with our last 4th round comp pick in his draft. Fine player but hard to be excited about getting him 2 rounds before he was projected to be taken (consensus was early-mid 4th), especially after we traded away the pick before which could have been Suamataia (NY's first round pick). If anyone projected Green in the 2nd in a mock, they would have been blasted for poor value.

I get that consensus ratings are often wrong, but it feels like the 49ers are playing it safe and reaching for guys they did a lot of work on rather than players who may have fallen to them.

Hate the draft so far. ESPN listed us as one of the losers on both Day 1 and Day 2 and I'd agree.

Yes based off Dane's big board. Other big boards had him graded higher. I actually got called out in my mock for taking him that late because folks thought he would go higher. Damned if you do and damned if you don't apparently lol

also I like Puni a ton, I just didn't think he would be there in the late 2nd let alone late in the 3rd. I also didn't really think they would go OG in the 1st two rds (which they didn't).

End of the day they've gotten 3 damn good players. Wanted Kingsley, apparently the league wasn't as high on him.

According to ESPN literally 30 picks too early.

"According to ESPN ..." the be all end all of all knowledge.

Yeah and Mel had Rosengarten going to SF at 31 and he made it a rd later lol. Mitchell was a top 20 guy. Sup with Franklin? They had a late 1st/early 2nd on from what i remember.

what they have Cooper as a top 20 dude and he went like 30 picks later?

I saw Puni as a 2nd rd guy on some big boards…dropped a whole rd later.

point is big boards are fun…they don't take into account teams draft needs and scheme fit.

1000%

Remember these words for next March-April
Yeah once you get past the top 15 or so the next 45-60 picks can be very interchangeable
I like the player the more I watch but he feels very grabby. Hopefully Bullocks can train that out of him
Love this pick. His play style fits perfectly for what we ask of our CBs. He's very sticky in coverage, and his press is a major strength. Plays with unbridled aggression, which may need to dialed down a bit, because he does get grabby on breaks and when recovering. But he should benefit our pass rush a good deal.

Franklin is tinier than expected. I thought he would weigh in 6-2 185 but he's barely 170.

League wants toughness I believe, and the majority of receivers off the board by now are bigger guys or Rac guys with return ability. Franklin isn't a tackle breaker or strong blocker. I dropped him down my board late after giving more thought to this stuff.
Green, Kool-aid, and Caelen Carson all come from similar styles. They do look grabby sometimes on tape, but recall Lenoir was like this too and got better.

Yeah seems he is polarizing. Some love him but others mention the grabbing and how it won't translate to the nfl well. Others mentioned he almost never turns his head when the receiver does. That def scares the bell out of me lol. I like the pick, but let's see.

This is true. Lenoir has improved a good bit in trusting his athletic ability. Green seems to have the feet and instincts to stay in the back pocket of WRs.
He's going to exceed the Ambry Thomas PI threshold

Chiefs were? And we handed him over?

Sure, just blow it off if it's doesn't jive with the rationale you prefer

Shutdown the LSU WRs. He's a dog. I got one pick right in my mock

You predicted this guy? Reading into him, he seems like a stud. He was extremely successful in college, really impressive numbers/performances. I'm hoping it translates.

I had him going a little later (based off a big board I used). But yes I had SF going Green.

I would have had Puni going to SF as well, but I thought he was a top 50ish guy and SF wasn't going to be able to get him. So basically just flipped lol.

we got 3 good players

In the end if you would have told me they came away with a T/G, CB who can play all over and a speedy WR that runs great routes and can play all over I would have been pleased….even if the way they went about it was not at all what I was expecting, and frankly didn't agree with initially lol
