You predicted this guy? Reading into him, he seems like a stud. He was extremely successful in college, really impressive numbers/performances. I'm hoping it translates.

NYniner picked him with our last 4th round comp pick in his draft. Fine player but hard to be excited about getting him 2 rounds before he was projected to be taken (consensus was early-mid 4th), especially after we traded away the pick before which could have been Suamataia (NY's first round pick). If anyone projected Green in the 2nd in a mock, they would have been blasted for poor value.

I get that consensus ratings are often wrong, but it feels like the 49ers are playing it safe and reaching for guys they did a lot of work on rather than players who may have fallen to them.

Hate the draft so far. ESPN listed us as one of the losers on both Day 1 and Day 2 and I'd agree.

After Pearsall I agree, the 2nd round pick and the way they let the OL talent slip out of their hands, even straight up giving Kingsley to the team we can't beat…it's just not good. I think the trade up was a freaked out reaction to the way things were going. Our vision on how this would go was poor.

The way Mel kipper grades guys is different than how teams do. A good team grades guys on their fit with their team and other measuarables that matter to them. Kipper just grades on who he thinks are the best overall football players - there is a difference.

Green projected as a 3rd or 4th rounder. He was the last pick of the 2nd round. Kipper reaching for relevancy lol
Mel Kipers forehead thinks he's a reach eh? Good thing he's always wrong. And I'm not exaggerating look at that guys history

what they have Cooper as a top 20 dude and he went like 30 picks later?

I saw Puni as a 2nd rd guy on some big boards…dropped a whole rd later.

point is big boards are fun…they don't take into account teams draft needs and scheme fit.

1000%

Remember these words for next March-April

You were spot on with the R2 projection…I figured 3/4th
Someone needs to Photoshop Mel Kipers face on his forehead

Yes based off Dane's big board. Other big boards had him graded higher. I actually got called out in my mock for taking him that late because folks thought he would go higher. Damned if you do and damned if you don't apparently lol

also I like Puni a ton, I just didn't think he would be there in the late 2nd let alone late in the 3rd. I also didn't really think they would go OG in the 1st two rds (which they didn't).

End of the day they've gotten 3 damn good players. Wanted Kingsley, apparently the league wasn't as high on him.

Good thing ESPN doesn't know wtf they're talking about. They rated the CMC trade as a C-

Kingsley is too big and slow for the type of blocking that Kyle's scheme requires. He's also very green. He may have a good career in KC but if they thought he was a good fit they would have taken him. These guys aren't stupid. They managed to build a team good enough to make it to 4 NFC title games and 2 SBs. Rosengarten was reportedly the guy they wanted in round 2 but the Raven grabbed him one pick before them. Not much they could do.

There were (are) many other teams that need Tackles. Obviously the league in general didn't see Kingsley as some great prospect who dropped. Not saying he'll be good or be trash but this happens every year

Mel Kiper can EAD!!!! Anyone who shuts down Nabers definitely isn't a reach. I might be a homer for saying that but does Kiper really watch tape of players?
Well. He mocked Rosengarten to us in the first round, pretty much only because of something he heard from someone else. So, my guess is he doesn't really watch film for squat.

How do you know that they didn't try? I imagine that they talked to several teams about trading up because they had so many draft picks. The problem is nobody wanted those late picks because the back end of the draft is supposed to be weak this year. That doesn't mean you can't find a sleeper somewhere but it's not as strong as it was in past years. You can't trade without a partner.

Yeah, teams don't make their picks based on some schmucks big board. Every team has its own board and stack them according to their needs/scheme fits. I like our picks so far and I understand we want to take players that can contribute early. I know deep inside that we won't be selecting high on an OL just because they will be redshirt this year. The Pearsall pick was to get him in, learn and maybe some spot playing time here and there. He will eventually get his if one of our WR let go next year.
As for Green, he's very sticky and seems like a student of the game. I see a lot of dog in this young man. This should really move Ambry at the end of the depth chart.

Kipper isn't the only one who thought this pick was a legit reach. His view on this is one data point amongst many. Subsequent to this pick I'm guessing 10 OL prospects went off the board and I'm sorry but the insistence on starving the OL is simply not good. In 2025, if Trent retires, we'll be in competition for the worst OL in the NFL.

But yet we found a partner when we s**t our pants watching almost every OL prospect in the draft come off the board after we took this guy. I'm not buying it.

If we helped the chiefs, that means it was a bad decision. That should be obvious.
