Our secondary is so much better than it was last season. We get Huff back and we added Malik and Green in the draft. And plus signed a couple of DB's in free agency who I feel are upgrades over Ambry Thomas. This Secondary is now loaded IMO. To the point that Luter, Womack, and Ambry might not even make the team unless they really Impress. Luter I think makes it though and he should make a jump in year 2. Ambry and Womack are in trouble though.

Huff isn't expected back until November or December

ACL tears are a long recovery

all depends on how bad it was. Some are career ending and others can come back in 7-9 months. Never know.

Hufanga isn't going to be out until November. That would mean an entire year of no action. He got hurt in mid November. ACL recovery isn't that long, and his was a clean tear with no extra damage so he was expected to have a simple rehab.

9 months max is the recovery time which even at that length would put him on track to return to action by end of July for training camp.

Yeah ACL used to be a year recovery, now it's down to 7-9months, especially if it's just a clean ACL tear and nothing else. I expect Huf back to start the season, but don't sleep on mustapha. I think he could push Huf for the starting job. Him and Green were slam dunk picks imo

You think a rookie can push a first team All-Pro for the starting gig? Only way that happens is if Huff isn't fully recovered. If anyone gets bumped it would be Brown

Hufanga won't be ready till maybe November, I fully expect them to add a veteran soon. I actually think Hufanga won't be fully ready till December, who knows he may miss this upcoming season. I would love Quandre Diggs on a one year contract, anyone but Jamal frickin Adams.

The good thing is that Mustapha can play both positions. Could take either job. Excited to see this guy ball out

And you know that how? December is a long time since the injury. Hufanga is young, I think he's going to be ready and starting game 1. ACL recovery isn't the same as it used to be. We will see I guess

If he won't be ready till November that means something went very wrong with the rehab.

Even in his All-Pro year, Huff gave up quite a few TDs. He's very boom or bust.

Some consistency and more versatility at that position would be worth letting him walk in FA.

Sign I'm getting old...ACL used to be career enders

Then it became 1 year (which I was assuming in my original post)

I haven't updated my internal notes to a 7-9 month recovery yet

I would take Diggs over Adams. Adams sucks!

I've heard minimum time after surgery was a 9 months to a year, then again I guess it depends on the severity of the injury. I could've sworn (but of course could be wrong) that Nick Bosa was back around middle of August, which would put him at around 10-11 months? I have to expect the same.
Last time niners took a WR @ #31 and CB in second round.

2004 draft.

Rashaun Woods + Shawntae Spencer.
