I also think they are higher on Zakelj than we may realize. Maybe they envision Puni and Zakelj at C-RG or even at both guard positions going forward. It's something but not inspiring. Maybe Burford gets a look at RT?

In an ideal world this guy could be your center and you'd have better options at RG and RT, but we don't have that luxury. Feliciano also has experience at center so you might put him at pivot and Puni at RG and keeping McKivitz at RT. Not ideal but with this head scratching offseason that might be the best option. Holding out hope that we pick up a starting quality OL in the second wave of FA but not holding my breath.

Just go away already lmao annoying ass troll that pretends to be 50+ years old.

It's a pathetic thing to lie about. Get a life instead of trolling on a football forum.

Ok, I'm 14, does that make you happy?

And are people only allowed to be cheerleaders (like you) on the WZ?

Sure folks can criticize and not be homers …that's not what you do. you have never offered anything of substance on this site. Just non stop one liner s**t talking .

Brendel was never getting replaced this season no matter who was added.

I wish the Niners had been able to move up and get a couple more 3rd rounders. Listening to NFL Network they're saying the talent really drops off this year. It was great in the front 3 rounds but the depth isn't there in later rounds. it's more of a crapshoot than ever from here on. just roll the dice and hope.

Good points. All of them. But, remember this: If there is any team that can pull future stars out of later rounds, it's the 49ers. Shanahan and Lynch have demonstrated this ability again and again through successive drafts. It's one reason why the 49ers have been so good for so long. While other teams are rolling the dice and high first round picks on potential QB's, the 49ers say "watch this" and pull a star out of the last pick of the draft.

Secondly, I don't see Puni as a replacement for Banks. This would suggest that Banks will walk when it comes time for a long-term contract. I hope not. Losing offensive linemen after rookie contracts are up does not equal long term success.

I see Puni as a possible RT. Undersized? Maybe. But he can play the position.

KS won't pay a guard. I mean just look at the liat of guards we have had. None of them have been noteworthy. They didn't pay Tomlinson. He's definitely replacing Banks if he walks.

Then don't draft guards in the second round.

Paying Tomlinson wasn't worth it. Banks is, but could price himself out.

If Feliciano was playing beyond this year, I'd like to look at him at center. One thing is for sure, we will have guys that can get open. Just hope OL can pass protect long enough and run block we'll enough (we fell off a bit after losing McGlinchey).
Dude was drafted to replace Banks. He's not much smaller than McKivitz. Arms are just a bit shorter so maybe that's why they want him at guard. This draft tells me they believe in McKivitz long term at this point. The back up tackle spot is a issue.

That's simply not true. Barton or JPJ would have been clearly better than him in training camp - especially Barton. Brendel isnt that good dude!

I don't believe for one second that Shannahan would've started a rookie at center.

Has Barton ever done line calls in his life? Bet he hasn't.

Solid player who also has experience in the offense will beat out a rookie. Just what it is.

He wouldn't have.

Kyle wants experience, which is why I figure Frazier or JPJ could do 1 year at RG then take over. It wasn't meant to be. I love the Pearsall pick however as I think it reflects a shift in philosophy. But Kyle also needs to see we need a better OL to become this dominant passing team.

I think they do see it but with the draft you need the board to match. It didn't this time around.

I'm for trying Feliciano at C if Puni turns out to be a gem. A line of Silverback, Banks, Feliciano, Puni, Mcs**tvitz seems a little more promising. Have Brendel and Burford be the interior back ups and Parker, Moore as the backups at T.

Id feel good about that OL. I doubt they even let anyone challenge Brendel however.
