I know alot of posts have been made about Purdy pulling the LBer out of the passing lane with his eyes against the Jets, with that hitch to the left, then reset for the throw.....
Puni comes all the way across the line to help the LT shut down his rush.... on that play.
I really do think he is a big picture guy, he really seems to move the most, help the most and seldom just s**ts in one place waiting while doing nothing.
Kinda crazy, that our already really good QB, seems to have even more tricks in his bag now that he has a cleaner pocket to work with.
It has only been one game...but damn....guys.... we use to judge OL by the metric of...hey he did not instantly get exploded into the QB maybe we can use him.
Now we got a guy who is left on an island to solo block a TON, and is moving all over the place helping others.... hell sometimes with a pass rusher I both arms....
I really get the notion we have had dudes who are so worried that they not get beat, they end up doing nothing...but hey...no one beat them......now we get a big picture guy that realizes...I might have assignments, but my job is to keep 13 on his feet my assignment, your assignment..whatever...keep 13 up.
What a stud.

Wow, did this team finally hit on a guard? The seemed to be cursed at drafting guards in the 1st 3 rounds, guys that either sucked or didn't stick around long.

In 2023, they ran to the right the least of any team (41%).
Is this the Dominick Puni effect?
Trent held out and out of shape

Why are you people not at 100 pages in this thread by now??
You wanted a RG and he was objectively the best in the entire league last week. In his first start ever.

When an o-lineman is good his thread tends to be dead like the old Staley one. It only got active when he announced retirement etc. So if this dude does his job it will be the occasional appreciation post or when a contract is up.

Banks is good man. Spencer is still very young. IF anything Mike McGlinchey was the one who regressed.

And he sucks. When OLs have it, even if they are very raw, you still see flashes of superb play and domination.
Puni is just a start, they're going to need to overhaul the rest of the OL in the next couple of years.
If they're going to pay Purdy a large fortune then I hope they're planning on doubling and tripling down on the OL to help keep him upright and get him to that next level.

Banks is already good when healthy. He does the perfect thing. Upgrade our right side. Which was weak. He's one piece there which already makes us much better. It's great where he is.

The only weak spot now if Banks and Trent Williams are 💯% healthy is center. This is becoming a decent line (so far) this year.

It's honestly pretty good now. But people on the WZ have unrealistic expectations. Some teams have 1/5 starters that are any good. Just complete garbage and they try to play with that. We have 3/5 good/great on our line. It's not that bad. But it is thin. We saw what happened when Trent Williams goes out. We are also 1 injury away from Spencer Burford. So hope for the best health.

Agreed but Feliciano would be an upgrade at center. Mckivitz is still suspect imo.

I'm sure someone has covered this rep already since there's like a bajillion film analysts nowadays on social media, but holy hell, this is one impressive rep from Puni that really highlights his athleticism. Not an easy assignment to reach this 3technique, but Puni is so damn explosive at the snap that he crosses the 3tech's face with f**king ease, dog walks him and then seals him to clear the runway for Mason. The OL overall deserves a lot of love. The Jets went to a bear front to combat the wide zone, and SF still killed them with it.
The @49ers had the @nyjets in absolute hell on outside zone runs, and rookie RG Dominick Puni was a big part of that. Highway 77 might be a thing already! pic.twitter.com/PS3TrKoEIy
