lol Jesus SD find a middle ground for once

Sometimes I go on big swings.

Lol
Puni is making Mckivitz look servicable. Just imagine if we had an actual good RT, Purdy would be able to sit in the pocket for 10 min.

I know they can't do that and I'm half joking but so many PI players that play in the NFL become stars. We had Sapolu. Iupatti played well for a couple years. Jr. Seau. Haloti Ngata. Troy Polamalu. Penei Sewell. The list is long and impressive. When you consider the smll population in Samoa and Hawaii it's even more impressive.

Samoans tend to be big and strong. They don't need a lot of artificial garbage to make them that way. Natural strength vs artificial.

Yeah they seem to be a lot of good players. They are big and strong. Know how to use leverage. It's all part of the culture. They are pre made for NFL football. LOL.

I know that they all look at football as a path to success in Samoa. Football is really big there. Many of the players end up at Utah or Oregon schools partly because of the Mormon connection.

i think genetics and the culture mindset is why samoan players are flourishing. Just naturally strong strong guys with competitive attitudes. Alot are in rugby and those skills definitely translating to football if they start playing early enough in their lives. 49ers are def targeting these guys more than any other team. Can tell Lynch loves their cultural spirit

If they had a better center and RT right now this OL would be rocking. Center especially though. I would hope that they take a look at Bryce Foster who transferred to Kansas this year from Texas A&M in the next draft. He's a big, powerful and athletic center that would be a tremendous fit next to Puni.

I'm a big fan overall of the Kansas OL coach Daryl Agpalsa who is an up and coming coach that has had a lot of success at every stop on his career.

I don't think the 49ers are targeting them more than other teams. It really depends on where you are in the draft order and unfortunately (or fortunately) the Niners usually pick late. By then many of the best players are gone including top O linemen like Sewell. I hope they spend extra time scouting BYU, Utah and Oregon State. Those schools always recruit a lot of Samoans.

It's all that stuff and yeah they should scout those teams for offensive linemen.

They have really great offensive lines too. RB's as well. Sometimes defensive line (JJ Watt, TJ Watt).

I really hope this offseason they target a Center and RT. I still think that we need to get a first round RT who can swing to LT after Williams retires and if we need to move up in the draft to get him that is fine with me. Just like we moved up to get Joe Staley. It cost us Jerrod Mayo, but we got an elite LT for over a decade, and he was great at RT too when he played there his first year. Someone like Wyatt Milum who could be a late first early second. Would start and be solid at RT and has experience at LT too. He is one of those linemen who needs to gain 10lbs instead of the ones that always are too fat and always struggle to lose weight. Get me a Center in free agency or in the 3rd round. This line can be so much improved

I'm ready to be hurt again.

You can have those positions on your radar but if another team takes the player you wanted then you go to plan B. That happened this year when all the top O linemen were gone when the Niners picked. It's not like Lynch and Shanny don't know where they need help.

the thing that sticks out to me....is how often he does something extra. He will toss in an extra chip here or there, or push a teammate in the back to help generate a bit more force on the edge, or swing wildly out of his way when he is free to help stop penetration.

He is the ultimate helper.

His brain has a ton of extra processing cycles running down in and down out. He can multi task more than just the dude in front of him. Case in point that week one play he blocked one dude with his left arm, and one dude with his right arm. Obviously every down is not that over the top, but the dude is constantly helping.

He stands out so massively on a line that at times dudes look paralyzed and in wayyy over their heads just dealing with slowing down one rusher....meanwhile Puni is just carefree blocking his dude and looking for how he can help someone else....

Drop him in-between Jessie Sapolu and Harris Barton and he might look good but not great, but on this team...the dude looks like Superman
You're doing something right when TW gives you major props
He continues to look absolutely great. We are lucky to have him.
