One thing that stands out is that he's usually looking for extra work, whoever else he can take on or assist with, that's a great thing for an OL.

totally agree....

That is his superpower....

He can reliably do his job, but he has enough awareness and vision to find places to help...all the time.... Dude is a big picture guy.

It is so refreshing that he does not have to be locked in 100% on his job to maybe not screw up this down...

This dude, does his job, but along the way finds places he can help....

I don't watch enough other linemen to say how the dude ranks compared to other rookies....but I think he is the best rookie lineman I have seen in recent memory. Well... scratch that....he is one of the best guard I have seen in recent memory. Guys like Larry Allen, popped off the screen like a man playing with kids....but you have to go back to 80s to find 49er guards that move like him. What larry Allen did to us as a rookie young guard...is probably the gold standard...the Dion Sanders of guards( they going to remain the CB position Dion)...just doing stuff you dont see often..... but after Larry Allen, Puni in his own way is remarkable for a young player.

I am sure there is levels to this from young Larry Allen to Puni...I just dont watch enough other teams to add context to it....but yeah man Puni...rocks...absolutely rocks....

I would take Puni over any of those 1st rounders brought in during Smith/Kapp days.
Love he is playing well. Now go get a f**king RT and C.

Once Feliciano comes back, they need to move him to RT if he Feliciano can't take the C spot. That was his natural position in college as well. He's got the size for it, I don't see why he can't play RT at an elite level. Strength and athleticism is there.

Idk about that chief

Why? Thats been his main position.

And I doubt we will just switch to Feliciano mid season and trust him to make line adjustments. I want the best 5 to play and that includes Feliciano being inserted back into the starting lineup.

I think he can play T in this league. He would certainly be an upgrade over our current RT.

When is Feliciano supposed to be back anyways?

It helps that he looks for extra people to block. Because he has 2 SLUGS on either side of him. He makes those scrubs a little better.

Now go find a center and a right tackle just like him.

I certainly believe that stat. Just watch him play.

Imagine Zach Frazier next to him

Would have gotten that 2 point conversion.

is this a lucky pick like getting purdy? or do we chalk this up to good scouting?

More lucky. Some scouting. They are typically awful at offensive line. Probably what was appealing is he played every offensive line position. So originally they thought he would be versatile. We got TW in a trade. We aren't that great at finding these guys. Plus usually don't use high picks. Banks is pretty good when healthy. But I think Puni is probably already better. Best linemen: 1) Williams, 2) Puni. I would already rank it like that. This early. I don't think they knew he would be this good. He would be late 1st or early 2nd if the NFL thought he was this good. No way last until the 3rd. He's better than that.

Damn, now that is called doing your job. setting an example too, a guy like this makes the whole line play better
He had a pivotal block on Guerendo's long run at the end of the game. Dudes been consistently good and playing well over expectations.

He's a Pro Bowl level guy and we got so lucky to have him.

It was definitely luck, just watch ShanaLynch's record drafting O-linemen.
