So far this is one of the better drafts for the Niners, can't wait for tomorrow now. LFG!!

Reminds me a lot of traditional Steelers/ravens drafts. Most of mature and developed players who can contribute quickly and not need a few years to become a relatable player.

Totally agree, in these times and this generation kids needs a little more time to mature and actually take their lives and future seriously. This is a good draft and these first 3 players will heavily contribute to the teams success earlier than later IMO.

Which reminds me of Tommy Boy !

Thats what im talking about

FINALLY we get an ELITE pass blocking lineman!!!! Damn his numbers are ridiculously elite. Bye bye Banks next year. Now we can spend that money on extending a player like Lenoir or Huf

If he's elite how did he fall this far?

I guess not allowing a sack and one quarterback hit in two years does nothing for you. You're alone on this one. Sometimes players fall because they go to smaller schools and what not

Also no prospect in the draft is a sure fire thing, nor can we or should we call a pick a bust or great pick, we need to see where these guys are in 3yrs.

As for what you responded to, you're 110% right, not every ELITE player is only a 1st or 2nd round pick, 3rd-7th rd picks surprise all the time, Travis Kelce was a 3rd rd pick, so was Warner, Kittle was a 5th rd pick, Hockenson & LaPorta should thank Kittle for helping make Iowa basically TE U. Point is you can find stars late in the draft, Brady was a 6th rd pick for God's sake, Brock, whether other teams fans or our own fans like it, he's a star, he proved it in 2023, & he was the 262nd pick in 2022, aka Mr. Irrelevant, but he isn't, he set the 49ers single season passing yards record, he was a legit MVP candidate, I still think Lamar didn't deserve it but whatever, anyway Brock played very good for having a mediocre at best OL, despite fans & pundits say, he can throw the ball deep, & successfully, & he really only had 1 bad game, Christmas game vs Baltimore, that cost him the MVP IMO, he even played well during the 3 game losing streak, the issue was Steve Wilks terrible defense, their terrible playing/showing, & Moody losing the Browns game, but he redeemed himself, but that's for another day.

As for the draft picks, idk much or really anything about the picks, but I like them, I was surprised by the Pearsall pick, when rumors were they may have went or could have went with Ladd McKinney(I think that's his name again I am clueless draft wise as I don't follow college ball), I also like the Renardo Green & Dominick Puni picks, we only have 2 CBs signed past 2024(Luter & Womack), Mooney, DMo, Yiadom, Ya-Sin are all UFAs after this season, need to extend Mooney IMO, get that $12.296m dead money hit down & sign him to a new long term deal, we have wait and see how Yiadom & Ya-Sin play, what I find odd is that Rock Ya-Sin got $985k of his base salary fully GTD, on a vet minimum deal, while Yiadom signed a 1yr $3m deal, but no base salary guarantees.

As for Puni, I like that he's played LT & LG, and has a tiny bit of playtime at center, I think Aaron Banks is gone after 2024 unless he takes far less than what Guards have been getting, besides I've been saying the team can't afford Banks, while they likely lose Jennings, Hufanga(they won't pay top S money), also I think DMo or if Mooney isn't kept, one of them doesn't re-sign, Lenoir would be cheaper, he's a slot CB now, but he's not as good as Mooney, who's an All-Pro, Pro Bowl cornerback. Also I'm not sure they bring Dre back unless he comes back sooner & stronger than we or the 49ers think he will, if so, you retain Dre with Fred as the best LB duo in the NFL.
Looks pretty good. I like his timing and how he gets off the snap and attacks the DL rusher. Basically, he stops them in their tracks before they can get momentum for a bull rush or a speed move. That throws off the timing of stunts and blitz's as well. Especially delayed blitzes.

What picks were given up to get him? Thought it was a 3rd & 4th only. Did we give up a 6th as well?

The 6th round pick is missing b/c we traded it with KC to move up in the 5th round

This was when we swapped 2nd round picks and KC picked Kingsley at OT
polynesian OL is good

I wish the Niners had been able to move up and get a couple more 3rd rounders. Listening to NFL Network they're saying the talent really drops off this year. It was great in the front 3 rounds but the depth isn't there in later rounds. it's more of a crapshoot than ever from here on. just roll the dice and hope.

Good points. All of them. But, remember this: If there is any team that can pull future stars out of later rounds, it's the 49ers. Shanahan and Lynch have demonstrated this ability again and again through successive drafts. It's one reason why the 49ers have been so good for so long. While other teams are rolling the dice and high first round picks on potential QB's, the 49ers say "watch this" and pull a star out of the last pick of the draft.

Secondly, I don't see Puni as a replacement for Banks. This would suggest that Banks will walk when it comes time for a long-term contract. I hope not. Losing offensive linemen after rookie contracts are up does not equal long term success.

I see Puni as a possible RT. Undersized? Maybe. But he can play the position.
Won't play much this year and will replace Banks the season after.

KS won't pay a guard. I mean just look at the liat of guards we have had. None of them have been noteworthy. They didn't pay Tomlinson. He's definitely replacing Banks if he walks.

Daniel Jeremiah had a lot of good things to say about Puni. I hate draft "grades" in general, but Yahoo Sports gave this pick an A-. With Feliciano in his final season and Banks a FA after 2024, getting a guy like Puni is huge. He has experience playing OT, too, so very nice pick where they got him.
