Malik Mustapha-S-Wake Forest

I think he will be fine in coverage from what I've seen, he's not a predominantly deep single high prototypical free safety, but he can play snaps there if need be. I think he can be a more athletic, faster Hufanga. From Greg Cossell:

"What consistently stood out was Mustapha was a little more fluid with his pedal and transition and direction changes on the back end, including at post safety, than you might expect given his stout frame and condensed build. However, he showed some ease of movement when opening his hips. While you would not project him as a deep safety as a foundational transition to the NFL, it gives Mustapha single-high and 2-high versatility."

Got a feeling that if you can pronounce Juszczyk, Feliciano, Mordecai, Taybor, and Wishnowsky than that list will be fine.

Seems like a little less stiff Marcell Harris to me. This is the only player I don't get what everyone else sees that I don't. I hope it's just me and he's a stud lol.

Bro is Donte Whitner 2.0 imo. I think he's got a little more range than him though.

I wanted Dadrion Taylor-Demerson because of the coverage and ability to play all over the field. Mustapha Does fit our culture and how we like to play. We can't have safeties that can't tackle well and he's one of the best tackling defenders in the draft.

That's great to hear, if true. I have not watched any of Mustapha, but you aren't referring to hard hitting, right? Jiayir Brown had some open field whiffs last season that I hope we see less of this season.

Mustafanga is going wreck fools this year assuming the Hufanga half comes back healthy. Looking forward to seeing how we use all 3 with Brown in the mix too.

In the past, it didn't make sense for the 49ers to use three safeties, which I interpret as using just 1 LB (Warner). There was no reason to remove Greenlaw to put in a third safety since Greenlaw > any third safety the 49ers had. But with Greenlaw unavailable for most of 2024, it could open the possibility of using three safety personnel.

I think lot is going to depend on how well they can utilize that set AND still defend against the run. Our run defense was just awful the first couple of playoff games.

They're a far cry from Ronnie Lott or Jimmy Johnson (RIP) both in pronunciation and playing ability.
