Why was he there in the fourth? Well, my frustration early on in tape review a few months back was the tendency to dance at the line and try to bounce outside for no logical reason quite frequently, instead of hitting the hole. The vision seemed inconsistent.

We have the best RB coach in the game though so I don't doubt he can improve this. The other major positive is he was known for strong pass blocking ability.

The athletic potential is there and his return ability is a nice bonus. Overall, not a bad value. Going to be an interesting competition between him, Mason, and Schrader.

he definitely can help Jaylon Moore at left tackle on chip blocks and still has the speed and power to get out on pass routes.
I don't think he will ever be a feature back but I wouldn't be surprised to see him get 100+ carries this year. Last year the backups combined for 121 carries for 508 yards. Last year McCaffrey needed someone to give him a break but didn't have it because Mitchell was banged up and Kyle doesn't trust Morgan. He's also a good pass catcher. Hopefully Guerendo can give McCaffrey a couple drives off a game.

Nobody on this team should be happier with this pick than McCaffrey

This guy is going to be an absolute monster in this scheme… I hope we spell CMC more this year, especially since this guy seems like a reliable pass catcher.

Because of potential injuries/price, I think we may keep Mitchell, but I think there is a good chance he may be traded too. I love him but he's always injured.

itll be very interesting to see what we do with Danny gray and Mitchell. We will need every roster spot possible so they may make room by trading some guys away.

this

just watching his touches videos, there is a clear advantage on snaps with a FB and his one back snaps. Granted he broke a couple of those one back snaps for huge gains, most of his go nowhere snaps were also snaps he lacked a FB.

This is the kind of thing that plays a part when a guy ends up a better pro than he was a college player. He fits what the 49ers do.

It'll be interesting to see if we put this guy in juices spot on plays to spell him and add a package. This guy on a full back run or running some of the routes juice does - could be dangerous. I love juice but if we can groom this guy to replace juice - that would be huge.

In some packages sure. As a pure replacement for Juice tho I think he's too valuable as a rb

We picked him in the 4th round. If he makes the roster, that's a win. Replacing Juice would be a home run.

He's likely entering the season as 4th string, 3rd string at best.

I wonder if Baltimore wanted this guy and that's why we moved up. In front ?

It would be a real throwback. Starts off like Roger Craig at fullback then moves to running back later on. Not sure if they are thinking this but I love it. It wouldn't be permanent, but definitely a way to get him on the field a bit more. He can also provide a real running threat from that position whereas Juice to me is more blocker and pass catcher, and running is a distant 3rd.

As a rookie, I hope he can provide some of what Achane provided the Miami offense last season. Change of pace game breaker. 5 or 6 carries a game or something like that.
6'1", 225, 4.3? Gawwwwd damn!

OUR future FB !!!

.. AND that's because no one let our HC knows that he's active.. lol
Larry Kreuger continues to speculate that he is a future replacement for Juice, but does he have the strength to be an FB? His bench press was the only part of his subpar combine numbers. And I don't know if he has experience as a lead blocker. But if he can do it, it would be amazing to have a 223-lb. FB who can catch the ball and run a 40-yard dash in 4.3 seconds.

lil bizarre, does he have any experience as a lead blocker? I would figure a TE, would more naturally convert to FB
