I think Guerendo is the teams KR to begin 2024, Cowing at PR, I'd love to see them somehow unload Mitchell, and keep Schrader on the 53, not sure it happens though.

Hoping it plays out like this as well
He has no suddenness to his game. I don't see this working out

You like Schrader that much or just think he will contribute more than Mitchell due to injuries?

Thats when you gotta be a thumper. He had dudes making business decisions on that long kick return.

He's a powerback with long speed. Suddenness isn't is game, that's why we got cmc.

Yeach, the constant injuries to Mitchell kind of devalues his ability. He might be better in a gap scheme vs zone from an injury standpoint. I mean at least you can brace for impact- in a sense - in a gap scheme run game. Those injuries just makes Mitchell unreliable as an RB.

Suddenness doesn't seem to be the key for KR with this new setup.

Suddenness or quickness is different from long speed. Which it appears he has on the kick returns. He's also not too bad in the backfield. But it looks like where he can really star is returning kicks for now.

What we also need to remember is he had basically no training camp. He got hurt in his very 1st practice I believe and then just returned earlier this week and had 2 practices. So he's had 3 practices all together and this was his 1st game.

Good point. A webzoner mentioned about his high upside during the game thread. I agree. If he can pick up the cutting needed in this zone run offense - he can become good - due to his speed and size. He reminds me a bit of Raheem Mostert.
They have most his touches on YouTube ...I really think Zone run should work for him... he is a Marcus Allen type guy...he keeps his head up and looks for the soft spot.I don't know how much bowling ball we are going to see from him.

I think that 6 yard run or whatever it was in preseason really is what he is. He has soooo many college touches that looked just like that...he finds a soft spot gets some yards and ends up with half the other team hanging off of him.

Dude appears strong as an ox, but not a whole lot of power running. Lots of momentum, lots of broken arm tackles, lots of people bouncing off his legs...but not a lot of low pad level power.

Heads up runners are by far my historical favorite type of running back, but I don't think it is a mystery why so few of them have been great. You don't want to take a ton of blows on your legs and body...but Guerendo really does not seem to be a hide behind his pads kinda guy.

I think the fella saying he has no suddenness to his game is 100% correct.... and I don't think it is physical, I think it is his mentality. His eyes are open and he is hunting for daylight. That works great if your Eric Dickerson....we shall see how it works out for Guerendo.

Personally I love the pick, love the player and am stoked the 49ers got him. Minus the pro-bowl level FB aspect of Roger Craig's game, this is the closest we have been to a chance at a Roger Craig type player in the last 2 decades.

You don't get a ton of shots at a dude this size, this 40, with demonstrated production in the running and passing game....I think he is rare enough to say it was a draft pick well spent.

The fact he can make a home on special teams for right now is great news, especially with Mason looking so damn good. Going to be tough to get on the field with all that damn talent in front of him.

His running style definitely reminded me of Mostert with the tall running style and narrow base. He's a much bigger body than Mostert, tho.

Uh you said he was a thumper and I told you he was like more Mostert and you scoffed at me lol

What? Where did I say he was a thumper? I agreed with you that he's a natural zone runner.

Last night was good example of playing through contact. Those pathetic arm tackles the Raiders threw at him.

If you mean he's more of a natural zone than man, then that does seem right--although I only watched two games. But the dude definitely plays at his listed 6-1, 221 lbs size. He was trucking people, running through contact, and throwing DBs to the turf.

Seems to be pretty damn good out of the backfield as a receiver.
