I'm not sure if this is something a RB can fix short term? At this rate who is even Mason's backup?

Very disappointing they traded up for him….and that's coming from someone who liked him in college and the pick

I knew the complaints would be coming today. Fans love dumping on players after a small sample. Everyone learns at a different speed. Maybe he will never be good but it's way too early to make any real decision.

My disappointment stems more from watching how well guys like Frazier, beebe and a few others are doing.

Okay but his play so far isn't the reason the team is 2-2. Mason would be getting the majority of the snaps even if Guerendo was looking better. If CMC was healthy he wouldn't see the field. He was back there receiving the kick because cowing was banged up earlier. Not his main job.

Never said it was. And what you just laid out is precisely why there is disappointment. They traded up in the 3rd for this guy, with other pressing issues, and as you noted above he was already a long shot to see the field. He still can turn into an excellent player, it's just a tad frustrating especially when you factor in their history of RB picks in R3/R4

So far, not impressed. The fact this kid missed most of training camp with injuries and being a third round pick makes it worse. So far, he hasn't shown much vision as a runner and his ball security is horrible. Hope this kid improves and soon.

He hasn't shown much but I don't get hung up too much on where a player was drafted. We've seen way too many lower round (4-7) picks do well while 1st and 2nd rounders fail. Injuries are often part of the reason but sometimes they just don't fit the scheme or were just over rated out of college.

He was drafted for his elite traits. He lacked productivity coming outta college so he clearly has to be coached up and get more reps.

Would have loved to see him keep pushing this to the left pic.twitter.com/NgTqzpOKwt
That is just following your blocker.....
Either....Both Juice and Endo saw the center wash the DT down stream and broke back to the right and puni and Mc screwed it up.... or.... Juice was suppose to seal the backside pursuit....and a rookie RB out of habit, or nerves, or lack of knowledge followed his seal block right into pursuit.
Judging by Puni, I don't think he even considered that run breaking back to the right.....
We have seen so many cut back runs, there is no telling how much freedom is allowed on any given run play. Enough to think RBs get to pick their hole..but I would suspect the way Puni cut off pursuit to the left...this might not have been a run that was suppose to cut back right.
I don't think that is vision, that to me...is just basic play knowledge.
Total speculation by me....but I wonder how much he knows, and if his injury in the preseason has him playing catch up.
This might be a dude who would be buried on the depth chart if not for the injuries...he probably is not ready yet.
Shanny don't spoon feed RBs, and yet we have seen time after time after time RBs come in and make an impact early in their tenure....I really like this dude, but he needs to hit the books hard....

That's the problem. It's wide zone, not power. Guerendo needs to read his aimpoints starting with EMOL and press the front side with patience. They've been teaching the same scheme for 30 years now.
These are the type of runs that Mostert would patiently press and then take to the house. Guerendo has a long ways to go.
