He's a home run hitter but the jury is out on his toughness. Never seen a man running full speed at end zone and slide. If he falls forward like any normal player would have, he possibly scores. I'm gonna hope he is just in his head as is normal rookie would be and that he isn't allergic to contact.

I thought that from the beginning.

we will see how the 49ers use him, I dont see Mostert though... I don't think he plants a foot and goes like Mostert, I dont think he shift gears like Mostert.
I think he runs like a big dude, as in he will fall forward most of the time, but not like a power back that makes a hole were one does not exist, nor does he have a ton of balance to the point his feet can stop and restart to create a second run attempt when the run stalls. Basically, I don't see a ton of second effort runs from him like you might expect to see from a big back. But...what do I know....really...watched a ton of him, but I am not some great amateur talent scout or anything like that.
And...we got to remember Endo is not some great college prospect, he did not even start in college...the dude was a 3rd down, change of pace back.
I still think the best version of him is in that mold. 3rd down guy, who can pass block, and catch passes out of the back field, and provide a chance for a big play....if he can find space, because he does have legit NFL speed.
I thought I saw him take a snap from the up back, or FB spot last Sunday....that...would be absolutely amazing if it was part of the development plan. That puts him in position to really leverage his strengths (pass blocking, running patterns...utility back stuff)...I really do think if we forget his 70 yard run, and look at his other 21 carries in the NFL for 3-4 yard averages is closer to who he is right now.
I say it every time I post on this guy...I love the pick, I love the player....but I do worry about expectations. I don't think this guy is going to make his own yardage, he is going to need great blocking to meet some of the expectations folks have for him. Shanny does that though, so did his Dad...they get guys past the LOS pretty regularly...so who knows...I think if you drop off Endo's utility, and just have a straight up comparison of him and Mostert....Mostert is the better guy with the ball in his hands. More explosive, can evaporate pursuit angles with sheer acceleration, needs less perfect blocking.

Guerendo needs to learn to trust the scheme. In college he'd dance at the line and bounce outside for no reason. Hopefully that long run is evidence of him growing in our scheme. Mostert wasn't good right away. He took time too. I neither loved nor hated the pick. Felt the fourth was the highest he should go though.

Shanahan: "Hell no, we wanted him to score."
Deebo: "I don't know why he didn't score. I would've scored." 😂

Yeah, I think it's obvious he didn't slid on purpose, but who knows. We know one thing for sure, he didn't slide cause Kyle told him not to. Lol
i think it's exactly whay it looked it - he got tripped by a great effort from the defender. Still an awesome play when we needed it most

He did not get tripped down. Physics will not allow that. If he was running and had his foot stopped there is no way he would have slid with his feet in front.

It's baffling people think he didn't slide. Literally watch the play. NO ONE falls like that on a normal trip up tackle, come on

I watched the game again last night. The defender reached out and grabbed his ankle cause him to trip. It's easy when you're running full speed to get tripped up. I've seen many players trip just by slightly stubbing their toe with no contact at all. He wasn't looking toward the sideline either. He was looking inward to see if anyone ws gaining on him.

Yeah his story doesn't make sense. He got caught from behind and tripped up. That's what the tape shows. He maybe got a little tired or took it slightly off the gas. But he definitely got tripped up and wasn't looking at the sideline either.

Lol right, if you slow the play down - he's still running normal until his foot is snagged, then he goes down. He just didn't try to stay up, which is what usually happens.
i don't think he thought he would get caught and he ran out of gas, causing him to slow down.
overall, I couldn't care less. Awesome play by him and Puni. But if he did try to slide, he's an idiot, IMO. lol there is no rational explanation to slide there - especially when we didn't have a kicker. We NEEDED to score to secure that game and our best bet was a TD and not a kick.
this debate is as simple as this - not even Kyle believes he "slid". Lol
