One thing that sounded weird to me is everyone saying that Cowing was great once he's got in the game, and saying he didnt play right away. Because he did, and he ran routes as #3 and even #2 for Purdy and couldn't get open. I liked what I saw but when going against #1s and with Brock under C, he didnt really flash. Once Dobbs got in and Saints got some backups out there, he started flashing...

Still, the speed and route-running look good.

He's a keeper on the 53 in my book. He'll stretch the field for Brock. He'll make it easier for guys like Kittle and Deebo.

We do this every year where we crown a preseason champ. Let's pump the brakes on Cowing a bit. Plus we have Danny Gray

I cannot tell if you are using Danny Gray in a positive manner or to reiterate not crowning any preseason champs lol

Danny Gray. The guy that keeps popping up on this forum but hasn't done anything. His main quality is he can run fast in a straight line.

Haha, yeah. Remember that jet sweep he took? Looked like trying to turn a boat a high speed.

GRAY - was drafted to be Lance's cheetah... that's how Shanny envisioned them.. he didn't care about his in ability to run a simple Ins and Outs..

It straight line speed was really that important someone would have signed Usain Bolt. I believe he had a tryout and lasted one day.
All these guys come in with talent and know how to run routes, but doing it in the NFL humbles a lot of kids when they step onto that field.

I still remember many of Shannanygans kept posting that DEEVAH was one heck of a route runner... and that's because Shanny coached him in that Senior Bowl.. I wonder if all of them still find him that way..

pathetic

He is an awful route runner and we all know it.

He is very good after he gets the rock in his hands but he won't beat man coverage....like....ever.

ever huh lol
Deebo is a below average route runner. I wouldnt say hes straight up awful in route running but his skillset there is mediocre at very best. Deebo is who he is because of elite acceleration and lower body strength and ability to break tackles. Those are things that can fall off a cliff when an athlete ages, so I definitely wouldnt want to see many years of Deebo past the age of 30. Compared to an elite route runner like say Aiyuk, whom I can see still having less of a steep fall off career-wise down the road.

Fair assessment. This is the reason I don't think Deebo sees a 3rd contract here. I say keep him for 2025, then let him walk for the comp pick.

He's not an awful route runner….he's best ability is being a play maker and that's using him in the flanker role. Move him around and get him in space. Dude has special acceleration and vision for a WR. He's way faster that folks think for his size.

Deebo was the best WR in the league running in routes last yr.

The Deebo hate is unreal in this thread. They gonna be real mad when he goes off this year for another All Pro.

You called it, that was your man and he delivered!

No, he needs a faster number.

Word him and Ricky when we do cutdowns
19 is avail..possibly 11

i like 19 for Pearsall and 13 for Cowing if it's not taken

I know it's taken, but I like 17 for cowing. I feel like Pearsall would look good in a number like 88.

Deebo is going to have a huge year. Hes essentially in a contract year/final year of his deal. He's motivated and being doubted by the public - he's going to be a monster this year. Incredible shape. Incredibly motivated.

I find that very hard to believe but i'm willing to hear you out.

Jonnydel and others made a living last year making videos showing Deebo rounding off his routes last year. I love Deebo and he's one of our most exciting players but his route running is not crisp, and his effort drops visibly when he doesn't think he's getting the ball
