Deebo is a below average route runner. I wouldnt say hes straight up awful in route running but his skillset there is mediocre at very best. Deebo is who he is because of elite acceleration and lower body strength and ability to break tackles. Those are things that can fall off a cliff when an athlete ages, so I definitely wouldnt want to see many years of Deebo past the age of 30. Compared to an elite route runner like say Aiyuk, whom I can see still having less of a steep fall off career-wise down the road.
Fair assessment. This is the reason I don't think Deebo sees a 3rd contract here. I say keep him for 2025, then let him walk for the comp pick.
Its reality. Long term, how many guys do you expect us to hold on to making 10 million plus? I'm not predicting we suffer a mighty fall, but we are the NFL's oldest team and the most expensive (or close to it).
We're already along guys to take pay cuts abd because one guy didn't (Armstead), he's no longer with the team. We are also stuck in a cycle of being over the cap for the next season, needing to do restructures, and having guys due big extensions (Ward, Greenlaw, Lenoir, and to a lesser extent Banks and Hufanga).
I think Kittle is in the year after. That's wild. What would you suggest to keep our guys?
