Mordecai is no where near skilled enough at passing to make any significant plays in a NFL game. He'd have to make an huge jump to become 2nd string material.
But, he is skilled runner. To my eyes, he has a natural athleticism and body type to play slot receiver.

I was hoping they would sign Austin Reed. I think his skillset is a lot like Brock Purdy. And I agree with you on Mordecai, not sure what they see in him, he reminds a lot like Ty Detmer.

It'd be awesome if he can be that immoveable object at the 2i position. This roster needs that.
He reminds me a bit of Red Bryant on that legion of boom defense.
The way SEA used Red Bryant in their 4-3 Under was very unique. He was a big ass mofo but they stuck him at strongside DE. I don't think the 49ers envision this guy at DE.
Agree, but I can see him at the 2i position and basically is the tree stump in the middle of that defense that stops middle runs. That helps the defense seal the inside and make the opposing offense go outside and let the speedy 49er defense use the sideline as a 12th man to stop the runs.
Body type and athletically, he does seem to be closer to like a Red Bryant than a DJ Jones. The comparisons people were throwing around last year of Kalia Davis to DJ last year was hilarious. I don't think people realize how explosive and powerful DJ Jones was at 320 pounds. DJJ was a freak and the strongest dude in the Ole Miss weight room.
The only thing standing Evan's way of making the team is himself because there's literally nobody else competing for the base/short yardage/goalline 2i nose spot. That doesn't mean it'll be easy because I can see Kocurek rolling with all rotation of 3techniques and plugging them in at nose like he did last year if Evans disappoints, but he has a great oppurtunity to make the team.
I think if he can beat out Jordan Elliot on the DLine, he's going to be a good player. I think Jordan Elliott is also comparable to red Bryant. A strong Middle DLine was missing last year, and that's always been a key to the 49ers 5 superbowl winning defenses. I can never forget that 4 yard stand in the '81 superbowl. Bengals had four shots inside the ten for a TD and Archie Reese and Jack Reynolds/Bunz denied them.

Maybe I missed it...didn't see an official announcement from the team yet about the UDFAs being signed. Seems in the past the team would announce it a couple of days after the draft.

They should be announced sometime this week before Minicamp starts, the UDFA's jersey numbers were already revealed, so they should be announced soon.

Good news - just hoping things get finalized with this UDFA group that we know. Some good players in there that hopefully will compete well and develop for the Niners going forward.

I was watching some highlights of Cody Schrader and kinda came away unimpressed. He knows how to hit the hole and is very decisive about it that's for sure but I think i watched a 10 min highlight video and i'm not sure i saw him break a tackle!!! His lack of speed showed up which isnt a huge concern but with the amount of yards he put up in the SEC i was kinda hoping to see some jukes, stiff arms, etc. The lanes he had to run through were huge!!!
He does seem to fit in this scheme bc he doesnt dance around but man i don't think he'll get those kind of lanes in the pros.

They're likely to only sign those 8, as that will put them 1 over their 90-man roster limit, they have 92 with the rookies, but Isaac Alcaron doesn't count as he's the international pathway program player.

Nah give me all that also.
They did a piece on TO one Sunday and it was about how he grew up and stayed with his grandma. Pretty strict upbringing and he was pretty emotional about it. I felt bad for the guy and think he was misunderstood a lot. Yes, he had mucho drama after leaving the 49ers but i chalk that up to lack of attention as a kid and his background, so I personally cut him some slack for that stuff.

My guess would be that Nugent has the best chance of sticking. A starting center from the national champions. Center isn't a position of strength for the 49ers so Nugent has a decent shot.

Yep. Although P-Line surely also has something of a shot.
