Really feeling good about Evan Anderson and Drake Nugent signings. Briason Mays has good size, hope steps up, we need the depth

It seems like every year there's a bunch of fans who love an UDFA, overhyping them, remember Dohnovan West? Jason Poe?
We need to slow down on anointing this guy or that guy as better than a draft pick, or he should be on the 53-man roster, people do it every year, it's tough enough to get drafted, tough to make a 53-man roster, but it's tougher to make a 53-man roster as an UDFA.
There are, but this team has done pretty well with UDFAs. Matt Breida, Jordan Mason, Kendrick Bourne, Emmanuel Mosely, Jeff Wilson, Ross Dwelley, JaMycal Hasty, Kevin Givens, etc. We have gotten some decent contributions from our UDFAs over the years. I'm not expecting Mooney Ward, but 1 guy that can give us meaningful snaps over the years isn't a stretch.
Forgetting one of the best of all, Azeez! I didn't make that comment without justification, as you showed, this organization has had quite the success with it recently.
We have done well with UDFA's.

Let's hope he's got some of his dad's receiving bloodlines, but that he's not as big of a tool.

I'm kinda shocked Drake Nugent wasn't drafted or picked up by Harbaugh at least. Wonder what the story is there? Chargers don't have a great line.

This is what makes me pay attention to the undrafted guys. Plus the bigger practice squads now. I think 2 of these have pathways
Nugent: we don't have anyone behind Brendel. Guys competing for that position don't really have the experience at center and are being converted. This guy is pure center who can spend the year on the PS and compete next year.
Schrader: this guy was a beast in college. Walk-on at Missouri and fought his way to become a starter. 49ers always find late round or undrafted RBs. I think he will be competing for RB3. Mitchell is unreliable and it may be time to walk away. Love him when he plays his couple games a year. Kyle obviously doesn't trust Morgan.

I knew I was forgetting someone which is why I added the etc. But yeah, we have had some major hits so it isn't a stretch to expect 1 guy out of the UDFA class to become a major contributor.

He was only at Michigan for a year. He was at Stanford for three years. Maybe he just wanted to return to the Bay Area.

Judging by how quickly he signed, I'm sure the Niners put a high priority on him. I'd imaging the chance to play for the defending NFC champs who are thin in depth, was a tantalizing prospect. If he believes in himself, and wants to bet on his ability, this is a great place to be.

Seems like a good pick up too. I wonder why he wasn't drafted?? Injury?
I think it's the fact he's going to be 25 week 1
He's our version of the Warriors Trace Jackson-Davis...experience is important, and we may get his best years on his rookie contract.

Chargers signed at least 20 UDFAs.
