They really should sign a free agent like Mekhi Becton now.
Was the #11 overall pick in 2020, is only 24 y/o.
Probably could sign for only $2-3 mil

He doesn't fit the 9ers scheme at all.

If they want to go the FA route get Donovan Smith as a swing tackle.

OK that's good, sign Donovan Smith. The 49ers only have Jaylon Moore. If a OT goes down, Jaylen Moore is their starter and Puni is the back-up.

I don't know Mekhi Becton, but he is only 24 y/o and was the #11 pick so he may some upside potential

Burford can play tackle. Kingston played LT at Washington State and alot of RT at USC.
More inportantly, we have Brandon Parker under contract who has 25+ NFL starts at tackle.

Becton is a waste of space.

I noticed when he played vs Clemson, he wore down during that game. Definite rotational player, I can't see him playing three downs in the NFL.

I don't think anyone was ever looking at him with the idea of him being a three down player. if he can just eat up blockers on run downs then he'd be doing great.

The crucial thing for him is going to be to keep his conditioning up. He supposedly crept up as high as 370 in college and he has to stay well under that. Getting into a pro strength and training program, adding some more muscle and strength while further cutting some excess weight could do wonders for him in terms of supporting a long term NFL career. Anderson, Nugent and Schrader are the three UDFA's that I have the most hope for.

Dont care about passing down. Just stop the run!

Agree. I have plenty of DTs that can rush the passer.

Donovan Smith is trash, this is just further proof a lot don't care if the player is trash as long as he plays a position of need and that's OT here. I don't get why folks don't understand that at this point if an OT is still on the market it's because he isn't that good when teams desperate want good OT's. And you can't even use oh he's good but coming off an injury excuse

Of course he isn't good as a starter. That's what backups are, not good starters.

Smith is better than Jaylon is playing tackle.

Wasn't Donovan Smith on the Chiefs roster last year? If so he sure knows how to hold a defender without getting called for a penalty, but knowing our luck they'll call a penalty, unlike in the SB where their OL had zero holding calls, in fact in the 3 that they've won I think they had Zero holding penalties, straight up BS cause they were holding Bosa on damn near every play, it feels like the NFL is rigged, they want another dynasty, so they chose the Chiefs, yeah I'm still f'ing bitter about the SB losses

But that same logic was used when we picked a QB two years ago with the final pick of round 7....who just took us to a Superbowl? I understand the odds of success are low, but calling him trash because he was undrafted. before he even goes through his first NFL training camp, seems pretty dumb.
Seems like we really wanted that DT. Hopefully he's a solid player. We will need him for a rotation and run stuffing. I'm optimistic on The DT we snagged from Houston.

I think certain positions you have to look at certain metrics and you can get a good player later in the draft, others you can't or should I say odds are even greater against lightning striking. As for Brock, he threw a lot of passes in college which is one metric talked about compared to Lance. Also, before he got to Iowa State, they weren't as good as opposed to when he started to start. His numbers/stats and competition also should have been factored in.

I think DL you can strike paydirt a lot more than OL in the later rounds or UDFA. Although I hope we get lucky this year.

Chargers signed at least 20 UDFAs.

Gonna need each one, Harbs has his work cut out for him.
