Wonder if Danny Gray will come down with an injury and be out for half of the season.... then if he's still not needed, release settlement.

As much as Kyle seems to resent him, disgusted at his mere presence....I get a weird feeling he's gonna stick around.

A little bit on a tangent, but why did nflpa veto the third qb rule? Is it because nflpa wants more guaranteed roster spots for qbs? But those come at expense of other positions anyway. Is it because when you are elevated you get more $?

Time for my prediction, this is given nothing changes with Trent/BA status and no trades/FA signings

QB (3)
Purdy, Dobbs, Allen - no surprises here

RB (5)
CMC, Mason, Mitchell, Guerendo, Juice - also no surprises

TE (3)
Kittle, Saubert, Willis - one of the tougher groups to predict, Latu and/or Tonges can take 4th spot.

WR (7)
Aiyuk, Deebo, Jennings, Cowing, Pearsall, Conley, Bell - given BA uncertainty and Pearsall/Jennings injuries, I think they go 7 and Ronnie is given another chance he doesn't really deserve. Or they go 4 TEs and 6 WRs

OL (9)
Moore, Banks, Brendel, Puni, McKivitz, Kingston, Zakelj, Burford, Hubbard - this only has 3 guys who can play tackle, they might cut and re-sign Parker to PS. I can see 10 OL and Parker making it too

DL(8)
Bosa, Collins, Hargrave, Floyd, Gross-Matos, Elliot, Givens, Beal - Barrett will be the PS guy but I think they will get another guy from cuts/trade in addition on the edge. 7 guy rotation with Gross-Matos hurt is very shallow depth for a Kocurek DL

LB (6)
Warner, Campbell, Winters, DFF, Robinson, Graham - The toughest to predict ? Graham could be the last cut instead of Bethune, Winters injury could put him on IR or DFF or even Robinson could be cut. Literally everyone besides Warner or Campbell can be moved somewhere.

CB (6)
Ward, Lenoir, Yiadom, Green, Ya-Sin, Luter Jr - potentially they can cut and re-sign Ya-Sin to PS, but hes looked great in preseason and seems he can play outside corner unlike Womack.

S (3)
Brown, Odum, Mustapha - Walker will be cut and re-signed to PS and will be elevated the first few games, just like the Niners have done with Gipson two years ago

Specialists (3)

Moody, Wish, Pepper - no surprises

Biggest questions - size of TE and WR room, last LB spot, last CB spot, last backup OT spot

Im in the minority on this but I think we cut Allen and rock with two qbs on the active roster with the rookie on the PS (or Allen).

I think we would rather keep a quality player at positions we are deep on or young guys we believe in. Like an extra o line man or CB.

I'm with you. I don't think anyone will be pounding down doors to get Allen or Mordecai on their rosters (53) which needs to happen if/when the steal from our PS

That said, I don't think the 49ers do it and will keep 3, with Allen on the 53. Waste of a roster spot

Mordacai cut. Chosen cut too

The Panthers cut Terrace Marshall Jr. I wouldn't mind taking a shot on him. Former 2nd RD pick, still very young, alot of talent but played in a horrible organization. If BA is not here I would rather go after somebody like him instead of giving that 6th spot to Bell or Trent Taylor.

He was one of my draft crushes.

Not sure he fits this offense tho. Someone will probably claim him off waivers anyway.

CJ Henderson former 9th overall pick got cut. As did Caleb Farley who was drafted #22 overall in 2021. I remember people thinking Farley was the best corner in that draft if he was healthy but he dropped to late in the 1st because of the injuries and those injuries have plagued him ever since.
