Should have kept Kingston over Nakelj. Dumb

Zakelj can play multiple spots. Yes so can Kingston but I think they decided to stick with someone who knows what Brock Purdy's tendencies are.

Niners "roster gymnastics" already costing them players in waiver claims and re-signings with other teams. This offseason has been been so weird and it's not getting any better.

It hasn't been the best offseason.

Lol if Trent wasn't holding out and BA was resigned - everyone would say how great this off season was.

all we need to do is get healthy and get Aiyuk/Treent settled - we will be in great shape. Not anyknes fault Greenlaw had an Achilles injury at the end of the year or Huf tore his acl.

Everyone just needs to chill. A single game hasn't been played that matters.

Well I can't speak for everyone but it's been pretty average and uninspiring even without thinking about the Trent and BA situations.

Maliek Collins and Jordan Elliot were good signings, but Christian Wilkins signing would've been frickin spectacular.

Ricky Pearsall was exciting at first, but his injuries got me cringing, Drafting an OT would've been f**kin fantastic!!!

Then you got meh signing in Tracy Walker and a 4th round hopeful in Malik Mustapha but again nothing spectacular. Signing Justin Simmons would've been frickin spectacular!!!!

Devondre Campbell, decent signing, but nothing to write home about. I feel they could've did more of an impact there.

So yah without Trent and BA talk, it's been a C+ offseason for me.

By the time the 49ers turn came up there were already 8 O linemen taken. Even the 8th wasn't considered ready to start. Before they picked in the 2nd round another 4 guys were gone. So maybe they could have taken the 9th or 13th best O lineman. Neither would be a sure thing to make the team.

Players I'm SHOCKED that made the team:

Ambry Thomas (I have no idea how he made it over Rock Ya-Sin)
Ronnie Bell (because I'm even more shocked we're carrying 7 WR's )
Jake Tonges (man, we're really thin here. I gotta believe we're bringing someone off the street.)
Sam Okuayinonu (thought he was just a camp body)

Thomas - he goes to IR
Bell - blocks well and had a good final weak of camp
Tonges - is a very good blocker and catches the ball well
Okuayinonu - proved to be more than a camp body

He is #2 Center and Brendel has chronic knee issues.

This was a historically deep draft at OT
Any other year the 12th best OT off the board (Kingsley) would be as you described

But this year the OT starter talent still remained at our 2nd round selection

The player we literally gave to KC is going to be their starting LT

We could have had a starting LT as low as our 2nd round pick and this is without the usual hindsight fan BS

I liked Bell. He just wasn't consistent. If we thought he did enough to make it, Conley should have been cut . He couldn't be claimed. I know we needed extra people with Aiyuk out and Pearsall coming of being hurt. You could have just elevated Conley for first few games and then moved him to 53 later.
There must be more we weren't hearing with Kingston like his shorter arms or maybe run blocking. He did need to develop more. We needed a fake injury to shelve him.

Kingsten seemed to have real promise... I can live with the others who were claimed.
If i were GM i would have risked LB DFF and WR Bell before exposing Kingston to waivers

That is the 1 player we needed for a flexible future (not paying Banks becomes an option if Kingston develops this year)

Agree. Overall, I don't really worry about things with this front office. But if I'm nitpicking, this is one where I wish they would've protected the player.
Nugent was better than Kingston so I'm glad he didn't get claimed.

I was looking forward to Kingston dominating DTs with his 36 rep strength on top of his top of the line agility. Sucks big time to lose him over Zakelj who isn't as strong or agile, but more experienced than Kingston at the center position. I see Kyle keeping Zakelj because of that experience. Oh well.
