49ers had no idea how the league wide waiver wire would play out

They kept an emergency backup DE just in case

We got lucky and picked up a DE for the practice squad and can now waive Okuayinonu with little risk of losing all competent back up DE options

There is also the extra factor that every team has already set their rosters and PS now.

Claiming Okuayinonu forces them to cut a player the rest of the league knows they wanted to keep
I am pretty sure they will lose most games until Williams and Aiyuk play.
Which of these losses will come back to bite us the most…

LB Jalen Graham to Commanders
OL Jarrett Kingston to Panthers
TE Cameron Latu to Browns
RB Cody Schrader to Rams
CB Samuel Womack to Colts

Right now don't feel like any of these are significant. But Womack was a good special teams player.

I'd guess Kingston might go on to become something.. Maybe. But Nugent was better than him.

Yeah Womack was a good ST guy although that doesn't make it a loss which will bite us. I regret Kingston as I thought he had a future, and Schrader looked good although it wasn't a position of great need. So, agreed, I don't care!

There's going to be prospects next year for the OT/OG position. I'm not to worried about long term, short term I am though.

Will Cambell, Kelving Banks, Earnest Greene, Emery Jones etc... are future 2025 NFL draft prospects. I'm confident ShanaLynch will find another Puni 2.0, but they have to get a day two level athlete (and I mean level, not an actual round 2 or round 3 draft pick). I guy like Kingston (to me) was a day 2 level athlete, with a bit more rawness in experience.

I actually think Jaylon is a good backup tackle that can win you games while Trent is getting back into football shape. Having said that, I do hope we don't lose promising guys like Kingston. I'm not too worried about the LB and the RB positions with regards to ShanaLynch because they've done very well drafting those positions. Womack I think might turn out to bite us in the buttocks, but since 2022, they have been drafting more DB's and higher in the draft and it's showing up on the depth charts.

Jaylon Moore will be the reason the 9ers almost loss, and not the reason the 9ers won, in other words dude is a liability. 49ers need a better option at Tackle.

ShanaLynch really liked Rosengarten and dropped a spot to pick Renardo Green when Rosengarten was taken by Baltimore, and unfortunately thereby giving Kingsley to KC. I think assuming 49ers win the Superbowl, they will basically have two second round picks next year. There are some good OT's in the draft next year - I leave it to the draft nerds to figure out generally the quality of the 2025 OT class. But I think if they can hit on a Puni 2.0 for the left tackle position - in the 2025 draft (i.e an athlete just below elite), he can backup Trent for another year (maybe two) and develop a la McKivitz. I hope.
Not sure who gets cut to make room when certain guys come back. We need spots for CMC, Greenlaw, Feliciano, Hufanga, and YGM at least.

As far as guys I can see them cutting though? My guess would be:

LB Graham
OL Bartch
RB Taylor
CB Ya Sin

They can't cut Bell now with Aiyuk and Conley hurt.

Gross Matos and Greenlaw may not be back until December though.

When it's time for guys like Greenlaw or Feleciano to come back, Im sure there will be other injuries to the current roster.

Don't forget Brayden Willis as a possibility, I doubt they'll cut Ya-Sin or Bartch just yet, both of their deals are GTD, but they would have earned it anyway, so it's possible, also I'm not sure if they cut Taylor, KS likes 4 backs on the roster.

My guess is Willis for CMC, Graham for Greenlaw, Bartch for Feliciano, & idk who for Gross-Matos, I mean we have I think 2 or 3 WRs on the PS, so they can elevate one of them if needed, Bell needs to be cut IMO, he sucks, only good for STs coverage unit.
I would cut Beal for GM. Willis is definitely a cut.
