differences for me would be Latu over Bell as a 4th TE, Kingston as 9th OL over Allen, Ya-Sin over Womack, Anderson over McGill, rest I agree on, so only 4 differences, unless Floyd and/or Gross-Matos aren't ready, I'd have Davis, Ambry, Feliciano on short term IR, Dre on PUP.

Hey AB.....I came back to this chain to change the TE room to 4 when I saw your post.

They want Latu to make it so I agree with you.

I originally had Ya-Sin on the roster but I think he has a wink wink deal to come back after the initial roster is set.

That said, they can do that with McGill and keep Anderson on the initial 53.

I agree on your IR and PUP projection.
Final unless there is a last minute trade or pickup. Definitely need another Edge and potentially another DT and Safety.

My biggest questions are who out of Robinson, Bethune, and DFF get two spots. Robinson has looked better than DFF at on defense but DFF is probably better on STs. I like what I've seen from Bethune so I think he stays.

Do they keep six CBs on the 53? If not then I think Ya-Sin is gone and they keep TY McGill or add a free agent DE.

The sixth WR is also a question mark but I just feel like the coaches want to keep Bell since Conley can probably make it to the PS.

This roster would leave the 49ers with around $19.6M in cap room to begin 2024, add in a potential $7.999M from an Aiyuk extension, they'd have around $27.6M in cap room, if they are able to extend or redo Trent's deal they can save as much as $15.072M, which would give them as much as $42.6M, if they can also get Mooney extended they'd be able to save as much as $9.148M, which would give them around $51.8M in cap room, so hopefully they can get at least BA & Trent signed with significant cap relief, Trent would also give them cap relief in 2025 on any new deal, and if they extend Ward now, or before his deal voids, they'd wipe out his pending $12.298M dead money hit for 2025, plus get him at or lower than that number as his 2025 cap number.

The only issue I see with cutting DFF is that they lose cap room, he's guaranteed $1.935M, his cap number is $1,292,500, so a $642,500 loss, not a lot, but still a good amount, but have no real issues with the rest, I kind of hope they can find someone to trade for Mitchell, to keep Schrader, and maybe they can unload DFF, which would actually save the team $1.125M.

He definitely may make it over Robinson and I wouldn't be surprised by it. Especially since Robinson would be more likely to make it to the practice squad.
Was really hoping we'd see something positive from ben bartch with a full offseason but looks like he didn't stand out anywhere
This isn't necessarily who I think should make the team but who I think will. This is also projecting Floyd and Gross-Matos' injuries are minor and they are good to go for week 1.

I really hope they don't cut Beal, I think he has upside, also I think Jalen Graham makes it, I'd keep him over DFF TBH, but I do see DFF making it, I also like Bethune, it sucks, we legit have 7-8 LBs who deserve a spot, but only keep 5-6, I'd like to see them keep in addition to Warner & Campbell, Winters, Graham, Bethune, & Robinson, I'm kinda worried Robinson gets claimed, as he has to go thru waivers.

I also like the idea of trading for another EDGE, but just not at the expense of losing Beal, or potentially losing him off of waivers, I'd, honestly, cut Allen, keep a 6th LB, or a 9th DL, also put Conley on the PS as he doesn't go thru waivers, and keep both a 6th LB & 9th DL.

I think DFF makes it. They might keep 6 linebackers but I'm projecting 5 based on Kyle keeping his traditional 4 tight ends and 4 rbs they always do. I also think corner has been their deepest position so I'm projecting 6 making it. I'm not convinced they roll with 2 QB's and try to stash Allen on the practice squad. I could see the Titans sniffing around on Allen if he became available. He knows Kyles playbook and I think they like him as a stable back up. I think Conley makes it. He offers special teams ability as a gunner and Kyle has singled him out as a guy having a great camp. He was also the guy rolling out there last night with the starters with no Aiyuk.

Back to DFF...He's been around for awhile and has suited up every game since 2021 save 1 and suited up 11 games in 2020 before that. The staff seems to like him. He started last night and played well. He plays quite a few special teams snaps as well. There is just a logjam at linebacker. There are several deserving a spot but few spots available. There will be tough cuts. I think if they keep 6 then I agree Graham is likely making it.

I don't think Beal has put anything exceptional out there on film. I don't see anyone claiming him off waivers before he'd be signed to the practice squad.

I think Shanahan keeps Mordecai and Allen to Practice if he agrees, I also don't think Schrader needs to be on the 53 or he will get nabbed on waivers. Look for Mitchell to be traded soon to make room for Schrader and give Mitchell a chance to start on someone's roster!

In a perfect world we trade Mitchell and a late day 2 pick for a DE.

Agree 💯 % on Mordecai. Allen to the PS squad. Guerendo made a showing and that might have pushed shrader to the practice squad. I can see them trading Mitchell later in the season a la Jeff Wilson/Matt Brieda.
Hard to imagine Mitchell has much value after this offseason/preseason. He's more valuable to the Niners
