damn Puni was doing excellent in pass blocking. Look at his side of the pocket - he was giving an excellent pocket in his area.

Puni looked fantastic from what I saw and this further helps confirm.
Kalia Davis got hurt(Knee injury) in the game and will miss half the season. It just keeps getting worse.

f**king great.

Dude had a good game I was hoping to see him replace Givens or McGill.

Kalia Davis is JAG. Dude is a liability defending the run in this scheme. He can't take on a double team to save his life, which is a major problem as its main form of attack offenses use in the run game to attack the wide 9. As an interior DL, you can't only rely on shooting gaps and splitting doubles to survive there. That's not realistic. There's a reason the 49ers made it a focus to get bigger and stronger IDL in the offseason.

liability?, hardly anyone can beat a double team consistently. Plus look at what happened.. no gain due to 4 OL taking on two DL

I think we will run more 5 man fronts early
Run stopping DT has been a big need for some time and we continue to ignore it

I wish they would've brought in a true basedown/short yardage 2i nose, but they did manage to beef up the line with guys like Jordan Elliott and Maliek Collins. Hopefully, they can get something out of Evan Anderson and Shakel Brown.

but yeah, these tiny 280-290 pound IDL(ie Kalia Davis and Kevin Givens) are a liability when teams are spamming duo and inside zone at them and walking them back right into Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw.

Other injury news. Yiadem will still be out another 2 weeks. Huf will see his doctor on Thursday for a checkup and will go from there. Felianco is dealing with knee irritation and won't practice this week. As for practice, apparently Brock was throwing to Kittle over and over again. It was a slow practice and no pads. Cowing also returned to practice.

Yeah I want a 345 wide body on early downs, especially with the smaller, faster style LBs we play

Yes we need a lot more Purdy to Kittle action this year.

Definitely seems like we're gonna cut a couple of decent/talented WRs (assuming we get it worked out with BA and Cowing & Pearsall are healthy enough to make the 53)

BA
Deebo
Jennings
Pearsall
Cowing

right now I'm pencilling in Conley as the 6th WR cause I think he's the best WR out of the bubble guys and we'll find our PR between Pearsall or Cowing. But it looks super murky for that 6th WR spot. Seems like Bell stock dropped in that first game (too inconsistent) but we've seen him make some plays in the opportunities he's got (including last year) so he could be right back in it. Chosen is a guy who's been a starter in the league. Tay Martin looked pretty decent last game though I'd guess he has longer odds than Conley, Chosen or even Taylor. I honestly hope it's not Taylor who gets the 6th spot cause there's just no upside as a WR (IMO). But he might make it if no one else can be a decent/reliable PR…

Taylor should be PS but activated for punt returns for the allowable weeks. Conley should be the 6th wr.
