If you can't stop the run you can't win. Hopefully Hargrave and Collins will shut down the middle and give a boost on the pass rush. We have a new squad and they will have to gel. The defense has a lot of really good veterans, they're going to be tough. Traditionally the Niners have been weak against running QBs, the reason being their containment schemes weren't so good. They never could beat Russ Wilson and they looked bad against Lamar Jackson and Mahomes. They should take a lesson from the Steelers and use delayed blitzs to the lanes the QBs set up to scramble. Mahomes likes to set up his lanes with his linemen depending which way the rusher goes and if you blitz him with a linebacker he will dump off to the LB's spot. So you either blitz with the safety or have the safety cover the LB's spot. If you don't Contain you will lose as Lamar showed us on Christmas and Patrick in the SB.
