The best part of the new kickoff rule is the way they have the opposing teams lined up so close to each other. It prevents those gunners from flying down the field and colliding with the ball carrier or blockers. They have to wait until the ball lands or is caught by the receiver. The intentions are good but I can see the potential for a lot of off side penalties early on until teams get used to this.

Kyle has made it clear in the past that he hates pre-season and much prefers practice. So I guess this doesn't really surprise me that he passed it off to somebody else for a game.

Kyle was not calling plays last night. Klint kubiak got to call plays for his first time. Shanny grooming

A lot of folks not named 9moon have constantly questioned his 4th QTR playcalling in the super bowl. I'm glad he's taking those criticisms, in a sense, by having an OC take his playcalling duties so he can step back a bit and think more strategically in those games.

At least I'm glad he's experimenting with it even if he doesn't implement it this year.

What if you want to do an Onside Kick?

Also I always felt Punt Returns are a lot more dangerous than Kickoffs.

If I'm correct onside kicks can only happen in the 4th quarter by the team that's losing and no more sneak on side kicks. You have to make it known when going for onside kick. Thanks No Fun League.

That's correct. I'm not sure why they put that in the new rule.

I saw Zakelle in there. Not sure who started.
Man Winters might be a stud, he flys around. Schrader/Brieda we can move on from.

Pff had a similar rating for Hufanga the year he was All Pro.

He has great speed but not the greatest instincts, he took some bad angles and ran himself out of plays or was unable to breakdown and correct his position

Yeah he def needs to sharpen things up but he was consistently around the ball. With better players around him could be even greater.

Every special teams coverage blows right now. Its gonna take some time to adjust. It's gonna get stupid with slants and crosses by the defense to be unblocked and still in a designated lane. Dumbest move by the NFL in years... equivalent to when they had the electronic puck in hockey 25 years ago. Nobody wants it or likes it. Just play rugby with pads on kickoffs.
Titans special teams coverage seemed fine

Just saying allot of teams have had it happen. Its the first f*ckin game of preseason. Harbs first game against the saints, the miller guys looking all pro, Glen Coffee or whoever, that QB from the steelers. Thinking a team is good from preseason is doomed success. Colts went 0-4 before winning the superbowl, Lions went 4-0 before a winless season... preseason is garbage. Our special teams has always sucked but having Deebo and our better tacklers might change things. Or maybe it doesnt and itll be the first time in history it ever meant something.

He had one play where he knifed into the backfield nicely.

Outside of that though.. Goodness gracious he was awful. He had a multitude of terrible angles, didn't shed blocks well, and got burned in coverage.

They also had womack as highly rated. But no one in their right mind is gonna play womack as a starter. PFF in general is trash so I wouldn't pay much attention to it.
