I hope I can see the game live. Apparently Directv and Disney are having issues and I may lose ESPN tonight. Hopefully it will be resolved.
This. It better get resolved beforehand.
It's on ABC as well and the local affiliate here is independently owned so the game will still be on. I can live without ESPN for a while. There are so many games on each week. ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, FOX Sports and the Big Ten networks all carry games. I haven't watched Sports Center in years so that's no loss.
Corporate mainstream media continues it's decline.
This seems to be more on Disney. Directv wants to be able to offer certain Disney channels ala carte instead of making subscribers take the entire Disney package. Not everyone watches sports so why should they pay for ESPN which is the main part of the package. This is like the Sunday Ticket where many fans wanted to see games offered on an individual basis instead of having to get the entire package.
Agree, and I'll just add that with the streaming technology now available, folks can pick and choose even more.
Gone are the days when media can dictate to its customers. It's now the reverse. I mean YouTube has billions of channels you can subscribe to, and customers pick which individual channel. Then you have *other* internet companies *like* YouTube - but from Japan, Europe, south America that also offer streaming services and the old media models are no longer relevant.
