Oh it definitely will. A lot of "best team on paper" being reported out there. Everyone seems to forget our head coach knows how to lose big games. No way we make it to the SB this year…

Niners are going to have 10 of their 11 starters on offense that they had week 1 last year. The only difference is Puni instead of Burford which is probally an upgrade.

On defense it's abit different but not as much as you would think. Last season week 1 our starting front 4 was Bosa, Jackson, Hargraves, Armstead. This year it's Bosa, Floyd, Hargraves, Collins. Upgrade at DE, downgrade at DT. Linebackers it was Warner, Greenlaw, Burks(I think). This year it's Warner,Campbell, DFF(unfortunetely). Corners it was Ward, Lenoir, Oliver. Now it's Ward, Lenoir, Yiadom. Safeties it was Hufanga, Gipson. On Monday it will probally be Brown, Odum. Huf will be eased back in.

Can't believe I'm saying this… but for this team these days it means absolutely nothing how they look in September.

We've traveled all the way to the NFC Championship/Super Bowl yet come up empty so many damn times that I hardly care about how we look in September anymore. All that really matters is how we look in January and February. As long as we win enough in the fall to get to January that's all that matters for right now.

We need three things:

Stay healthy. Our starters are fantastic, but trench depth is a huge drop off.

O line has to play way better than last year when it matters.

Purdy's continued development.

odds are against us but let's hope luck rolls our way.

I think the scheduling here is as favorable as it gets for us. The Jets are gonna be good, and I still think Rodgers is great. Best case scenario to face him in week 1 rather than week 10. He hasn't played in a long time.
It will be a good test for Sorenson, I think Breece Hall will be tough, but I think Hackett sucks.
It essentially Rodgers first game ever with a new team also. There will be growing pains.
they're also breaking at least 2 new O-Lineman, and we might miss reddick

Yeah people like to forget about the amount of luck the 49ers got against GB and Detroit last year. They should have lost both games. Luckily that didn't happen.

Computer projections are interesting, but any scenario has pretty much equal probability of happening. What I see is pressure. Aaron is coming into town after a year of rehab, working with a bunch of new faces trying to outscore the Niners offense. Add in the desperation of the Jets fans, and you have a very tough challenge on him. Then you want to add on to that making him a favorite. What will keep him from succeeding is that he is a pocket passer. They don't do so well against the Niner D. Niners are a 3 point favorite. It won't be that close.
