Taylor had 81 when he was with the team before, so no surprise he grabbed it again when it became available.

Lately it seems they take a number of a significant player out of circulation for a number of years before reissueing it. Bryant Young's 97 went unused from 2008-2016, while Frank Gore's 21 hasn't been issued since his last season with the team in 2014.

Correct. Same time frame as Gore. It remains to be seen if they eventually reissue either 21 or 52 like they did 97, as they've both surpassed the 9 years 97 was out of circulation.

Taylor's 2nd stint wearing 81 will be the 16th time a player has worn it after Owens' last season with SF in 2003. It was issued to Rashaun Woods the very next year in 2004. Owens' last couple tumultuous seasons with the team was a big reason for that.

Is Jauan healthy or still banged up?
No Greenlaw.
No Hufanga.
Pearsall (not that he's a known commodity, but simply due to the shocking nature/distraction and the unavailability of whatever he would bring)

I believe in this team so much that I still think, despite it all, they can win, but this is a really difficult, turbulent way to enter the season against a good Jets team.

Hoping for the best.
