I think they're better.
A defensive coordinator getting back to the defense they're familiar with.
Strengthen the secondary with Renardo Green, Rock Yah-Sin, Isaac Yiadom and Malik Mustapha. Best secondary the 9ers had since Richard Sherman was in the building.
Rebuilt the D-line with DE's who can man the other DE spot and two solid run stuffers in Leonard Floyd, Yetur Gross-Matos, Maliek Collins and Jordan Elliot. No longer have to rely on a injured Armstead, TY McGill or Kevin Givens.
As for the offense, I think they'll get off to a slow start with Trent Williams still out and Aiyuk missing all of TC and Preseason. But they added a solid Guard from the draft who nailed down the RG position and won't have to reply on Spencer Burford.
Added at what looks to be an impactful special team in Isaac Guerendo. I think they also might have upgraded from Ray Ray Mcloud with Jacob Cowing, looks much quicker and can get open.
And last but not least, what we all tend to forget is that this is/was Brock Purdy's first season as the clear-cut no questions-starter in training camp. That alone SHOULD make the 9ers better.
I can't wait!!!

I have some doubts. Brock should be better this season with a real off season conditioning program. Other than that everyone is just a year older. Even if Williams is back will he be as good this year. Puni looked good in pre season but how will he do against1st string defenders? Can CMC stay healthy all season with that work load? How much will they miss Greenlaw in the early games? Same for Huff.
I'm not confident that they're improved and they'll need to be if they want to get back to the SB. The schedule is a little tougher this season.

Pretty much agree with this.
I think we look better on paper in most areas, but I also expect this year to be harder on multiple fronts.

something just feels off and the years has not started. Not sure if it's the sloppy contract issues but it just feels like we are flat. I hope it' just a bad feeling that doesn't become reality. We need to come out of the gate strong and change the vibe quick.

Nope. Last year was the peak. Especially injury wise.

Agree. Without Trent our line is screwed. Brock will have less time to complete passes or will get sacked, those 3rd and shorts where he pushes the line. I think we lost every game he missed last year.

Secondary is the best in recent years
puni and this entire draft class looks very encouraging
gonna miss Greenlaw
Purdy will be good …but expecting a higher int count (esply from tipped passes) stats might be somewhat like Josh Allen's last season
Gonna pray hard for the health of this squad
LFG!!

I'm also in the worst camp. Trent anchors the left so well that Purdy doesn't have to worry about it and knows he can shuffle left at any time to buy time. Losing him outweighs any of the vibes surrounding the defense, defensive coordinator nobody really knows about, and Brandon Staley.

This.
The team should be better on paper but something doesn't feel right about the team.

Only way we are "better" than last year is if we win the SB
