Which week 1 roster is better this year or last year (2023 vs 2024)

edit: Guess i wasn't clear enough but i'm asking which week 1 roster do you think is/was better going into the season?

Now that the roster is probably set, which team is better going into week 1.

My comparison from week 1 of last year:

QB: This year only because Purdy has more experience
RB: Same. Even though we had Mitchell last year he was rarely used and Kyle doesn't use RB2 anymore since CMC arrived
WR: I like this year's squad. I never got into Ray Ray and i think Cowing can take his place. If Pearsall plays it will be even better
TE: Same. No more Dwelly but think Saubert can do what Dwelly did for us
OL: Slight edge this year. Another year together is a plus. Punni is a welcome addition
DL: Last year. Armstead is a huge loss. We didnt have Chase Young this time last year but he was meh. If Floyd lives up to the hype we will be ok
LB: Last year. No Greenlaw for at least mid year.
CB: This year. I like this year's unit a lot more. Plus we have depth
S: Slight edge to last year. Gipson was good and we might not have Huf right away

I think on paper this team is better. Experienced and battle tested. My only concern is will they fall asleep trying to coast to the playoffs?

I think a couple of spots natural regression needs to be factored in a little more. Unfortunately we have an older team so guys like Kittle, CMC(he's out of the RB prime), Trent Williams, Juszczyk, and Hargrave affect us a little more. Just never know how much is the drop off so hopefully just slightly for these guys.
We do have some good progression guys like Purdy that was mentioned and Aiyuk and Bosa. Should be getting the best versions of them.
Is there a too early to tell option?
Need 3rd option. Too soon
I think this year team is slightly less. Considering wear and age.
This year's team is better mostly because of a greatly improved defense. The defense improved at secondary and d-line. Offense is slightly better with improved depth at WR and RB.
wasn't there already a thread for this topic?

I feel likely we got 5-10% better and that's a lot for this team. we finally got our RG, so far. We've added more depth and in sense better at WR and CB. safety look good and we finally have another ER to compliment Bosa.

That should be enough to take us over the hump. if we can get even better play out of our RT it would be great.

It depends on injuries and how healthy this year's squad stays.
If team includes the coaches, not just the players it's TBD. Let's see how our new DC calls games. Wilks was good teaching the CBs but soft on his calls against the run. Saleh was conservative at times, Demeco was just right and was respected.

Player wise we don't know his new back end is. I don't even know if Mustapha is going to start and if Hufanga is going to play anytime soon. Dre Greenlaw will miss some time so we will have to see how Campbell fills.

So I think our games need to be higher scoring until the D gets their footing. All that matters is how strong we finish and we should be in good position for that as long as we're healthy.
DL I don't agree with it. Even if you take the talent out of the picture, the scheme was just bad. It's going to be an improvement there (baring major injuries) and when you also take into consideration the new depth we got there, especially at DT, we should be much improved.

Everything else there is pretty spot on.

Hoping Brown takes a big step this year and plays at a high level
I'll tell you in March
