SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS vs NEW YORK JETS - 2024 Season Game 1

What i'm interested in this evening:
  • How does the defense look schematically compared to last season
  • Can the defense stop the run
  • Will Deebo be able to get open (Sauce is a tough matchup for Aiyuk with no offseason) and has his offseason participation lit a spark in him
  • Contributions from Mason and then the rookies
  • Will Purdy play like did last year or are we going to see what we saw in the pre-season

This feels like a Kittle game TBH with NY's secondary.

They should have lost to a bad Denver team with a rookie QB at home.

Geno Smith will never be the answer anyways 😂

Yeah I thought he played poorly for most of the game. His interior OL is trash and did him no favors.

They barely got by a bottom 5 team in DEN, with a rookie QB…. in Seattle. The years of the LOB and that massive home field advantage is gone. Pete Carrol could coach up all those dudes to play above what they were.

Very true! Pete Carroll gone is a huge loss for them as well.

The Rams are our only threat in the division. Would be nice to see them lose at AZ next week as well.

Rams are hurting…down to their 3rd string LT for next week. Lost another IOL. Not sure if their RT is gonna play. No Puka more than likely.

- How the defense looks. This is a big one with a rookie DC and Brandon Staley chiming in.
- Right side of OL.
- The CBs in both base and nickel. Who is the third CB? Is Demo playing RCB in base then goes into slot when in nickel with (who?) coming in to play RCB?
- The workload on CMC. Most of us wanted some of his carries to go to Mason last season. To prolong CMC's career, I hope this year is a bit different and there's another RB that can help out.
- The safeties. It's a young group. If Rodgers has time, how do they hold up in coverage?

I grew up idolzing those early 2000 USC teams led by Carroll and followed him for years. then he broke my heart and became the head coach of the damn seahawks...

with that said, I always thought he was a damn good coach and got way more out of his rosters than most coaches would have. Dude was an excellent coach and I think they're going to sorely miss him. Personally, I'm glad he's gone - his teams were always tough as hell and super physical towards us.

Will all the hype about Puni prove to be real? If so, it will help McKivitz to settle in and do his job.

Rodgers has seen it all. If there is a flaw on the back end, he will take advantage of it.

The talent is there on defense, but is the chemistry?

I think it's pretty safe to say Yiadom will be the other outside guy and Demo with get tossed into the slot

who's gonna be the other safety? Odum or Mustapha?

I'm excited to see Puni and how he holds up vs QW.

The rams will be tough for us cause it's a divisoinal game and they have a HOF Qb and a SB winning HC - I love to see them lose but they aren't pushovers.

Cards are an up and coming team but Kyler doesn't scare me. I do think the cards HC is a good coach though.

So happy the Rams lost last night. I see them as the only legitimate threat in the division.

A win is huge tonight but with the Rams losing it would not be the end of the world if we lost.

Agree 💯 %, if they can get a couple of games up on the Rams, they can rest the starters for the playoff/superbowl run later in the season.

yall sleepin hard on the seahawks

Cause they aren't good

they won yesterday how is that not good haha

Caleb Williams is the first rookie QB to get a win in his first start since David Carr. And it wasn't cause of Caleb meanwhile the Seahawks almost lost to Nix. Let's not act like the Seahawks didn't struggle against a bad squad in the Broncos. Seahawks aren't that team. The Rams looked tough with Kupp back to 100% and that's it.

Bears with 149 total yards. No offensive TDs. I can't remember seeing an NFL team win with numbers like that.

Ohhh, ok. Thanks. In that case, I'm eager to see how Yiadom plays.

Odum or Mustapha is an interesting one. I'm guessing they'll start Odum and rotate Mustapha in for some reps.
