Who looks this stuff up? What an obscure factoid.

lol I thought the same thing when I saw it but thought it was also cool too. Really shows how well the front office does on finding talent and the coaching staff does developing them.

Kyle & John aren't perfect but they do a damn good job, better than most.

The reality is that this team is really good because of their ability to hit on mid-late round draft picks and UDFA. we've only hit on 2 firsts, 1 second, and 1 third
First: Bosa & Aiyuk
Second: Deebo
Third: Warner (Maybe moody & Brown now too but time will tell)

The rest of the talent on this team is from 4th-7th round , UDFA, Trades, Free Agents. really impressive.

It's still interesting.

Turf might not be the best 1st game

Yeah, I don't know if I'd have CMC or Huff open on turf, especially if they're not 100% right. At least wait until the SoFi game. While that is still technically a turf game, it is a higher graded surface than Minnesota, if my memory serves me correctly.

One of those thirds commonly thought to be a miss was used to draft CJ Beathard in 2017, but it wasn't a complete waste. Beathard played out his rookie contract and then was signed by Trent Baalke in Jacksonville which earned the 49ers a 7th round pick in compensation. We used that pick to draft Brock Purdy.

Yeah, I wish we still had Kingston. He didn't seem to get pushed back at all. I thought he had more talent than Bartch or Zakelj.

No worries, next season we'll ignore this position again.

If Trent retires, I predict a Trey Lance type deal to move up in the draft for a left tackle.

Tanner Mordecai is a potential second rounder
Evan Anderson is a potential first rounder

49ers have found great value after day 2. I hope it continues.

Haven't won there since early 90s I reckon

That'll change this week. Bout to show them that we aren't the giants and they aren't in our league. Revenge for last year.

You know the defense is embarrassed about last year.
so everybody knows Darnold is going to end up playing the absolute best game of his entire career this week, right? At least that's what the team better be expecting but get some damn pressure on his ass.

I think the defense wants to redeem themselves after getting smoked last year in Minnesota. I don't think anyone is going to take darnold lightly, either.

I also think we will pick darnold off at least twice. our defense is going to be suffocating.

Ultimately, our offense will keep scoring and force the game in darnolds hands and he will commit turnovers. it'll be glorious. We just can't get off to a slow start and let them control TOP and/or convert many third downs.

Like I said, the 49ers haven't won in Minny in over 30 years. That's just f**kin sad.

This...they need this game and they should have paid Darnold

I also seem to remember it being said during that game that the Niners haven't won in Minnesota since 1992 I believe, so for the last 31 years, it's been a weird place for us to play.

People keep repeating this, and while true, it's kind of a nothing burger.

1994: 49ers rest starters in second half of meaningless Game 16. Win Super Bowl.
1999: Terrible 49er team once Young was out.
2003: Mediocre 49er team
2009: Mediocre 49er team gets Favred
2012: Great 49er team, so we have the first real disappointing loss of this streak (2009 was more annoying than anything). NFC Champions anyway.
2018: Bad 49er team. This was before Jimmy tears his ACL, but even without that happening it's probably a 7-9 win team at best.
2023: Great 49er team. Close game, Brock gets concussed at the end. NFC Champions anyway.

So, of the 7 games, only 2 feature quality 49er teams that really should have won.

If there had been continual shocking losses that kept the team out of the playoffs, or maybe 2-3x the games, or playoff losses this would be an actual big deal. 7 games in 30 years just isn't all that bothersome. It's the time involved that makes the stat shocking, but the number of games involved is so low it drains all substance from it.

Agreed, I think the streak ends. Vikings will probably get a worse beating than NYJ got to be honest.

Sam Darnold revenge game

Never forget: "He might be — can I say this — the most talented thrower of the football that the 49ers have ever had," Maiocco said

When you take his comment word for word, it makes sense. I never saw a problem with it.

however, he opened up a huge can of worms which caused his statement to require further refinement and nuance.
