THIS! It's not even just our team, the soft tissue injuries are taking out players all over the league early. NFL needs to go back to having real training camps and players actually playing in the preseason again. CBA has already shortened and watered down training camps, preseason and teams are scared of starters going down in 'meaningless' games so now you got players not in game shape when the bullets go live. They need to rethink this.

If you watched football in the 80 and 90s and went into a coma until 2020 you would be very disappointed with football and the NFL.

It's not the same game for sure. Not as tough. Not as much hitting. Totally different.

17 games is silly cuz it's an odd number so it's an imbalance between home and road. you need 18 games.

lol no. "THEY" need 18 games....for money. Not for the good of the sport.

It's their responsibility to do whatever is in the contract. "Professional football player" or not. This sounds like a Shaq-ism.

Conditioning tests, weight clauses, specific training and rehabilitations clauses to be met, etc. Alot of money is involved. This isin't backyard football.

Funny how teams keep their starters out in preseason as to not risk injury. We're already down 2 key players two weeks into the season. Maybe acting like you're all world when you're NOT isn't a good idea. I think Mahomes played more preseason than most of our starters on offense iirc…

Acting like you're all world? Keeping starters out?
Do you even think before you post? The same was done last year

Sure. And yet players still come to camp not ready to go. We have both Deebo and Bosa both holdout and outright stating they were not ready for week 1.

I have no idea what is in a players contract but I do know players are not ready to go come week one. Did any of the starters even do anything in camp. I dont think they even play a single snap in camp as a starting 11 due to injuries and sore tummies.

Didnt TW have to leave the game against the Jets for an IV......in shape per contract?

Torn ACL and MCL and this training staff had Aiyuk walking on the sideline....
Weakest team in the league. If they are not injured they are sick. Need more training, prayers and vitamins.

You can walk with that in some cases. I've had a friend who tore his ACL and didn't know it for a few weeks. Walked around on it. Said it felt a little funny though. It's not ideal. But in some cases you still can walk.

@ the angle he was he hit in the knee,..wasnt any kind of make-believe strength that was going to resist that knee bend.
Thats what happens when you barely wear pads from February to August. The modern league is soft. The league gave them all this extra rest and easy camps in exchange for adding more games in the CBA. Players used to get worked to death in camp and actually played in preseason games. But they withstood a long season because of it.

Someone somewhere, here? TV, said the tackling rules in place now designed to keep players safer are actually doing more harm than good. It's putting a lot of stress on the lower body. I mean, it's happening across the league.,it's not something lame like training staff, no Cheerios on Tuesday. It's something like this I think. It's happening too much across the league this year.

I believe Donte Whitner mentioned this after the game… but it's been said by many people since the league began to crack down on high hits/targeting/etc.
