Get used to them. Eventually they'll be mandated.

Young man is getting the push on the inside back to the QB while keeping the linemen from getting to the second level and hindering Fred and the other LB's. Good Job.

Why
So they're going back to the 3-4 having Anderson?

Its a 4-3 and he's two of them.
Strangely he does some things better than Hargrave. He's a huge gap plugger and pretty active. I think we got better in some ways. Which shows how much Hargrave was under performing his contract. I never thought Hargrave really fit us. He is cut out for the Eagles defensive line. With huge space eaters taking up guys. While he can run free to the QB. I just don't think our defensive line was ever built like that. Thus not allowing him to be as good as he was. Anderson is doing it a different way. He looks pretty good so far. Much better than an undrafted guy to me. He should have been drafted.
I was at the game and was having this exact conversation all 4 quarters. Even with Collins + Elliott in, and certainly after Elliott went out and Anderson came in - is our run D going to be better without Hargrave. Maybe give up a little on interior pass rush but it might be a net positive, possibly a big one. It's only 1 game against a weaker o-line but something to watch.

Also, scared to death Anderson gets signed by another team off our practice squad. Sign him and get him on the 53!

He was activated and playing. So isn't that active roster? How can you actually play in a game and not be active roster? I think he is as of now. Yeah we are better against the run with him. I think he actually helps us vs teams like the Lions and Seahawks.

No they get sent back to the practice squad after a game. I think practice squad players can only be elevated four times.

He should be on the active roster. That's ridiculous. He's the best gap plugger and space eater we have. Way better than undrafted. That's just being dumb and stubborn. Get Ronnie Bell off the team and you have a roster space. We need it ongoing with Hargrave out now. He played well too. Why are they this stubborn?

Harsgrave is our best interior pass rusher. Dude was still doing his thing before the injury. He's always been poor at defending the run. It's a net loss without question.

it is cool to see what the young guys can do. Also let's face it the Pats have one of the worst OLs in football.

It's actually only two times. After two you have to promote them to the active roster to play again, but I think he will get another chance to further prove himself this week with Elliott hobbled. If he does well again, I think we promote him full time to fill the spot vacated by Hargrave.

Pearsall should take Bells spot no problem too.

Well, I'm sure they are trying to balance the roster the best that they can; at least in their view (fan of course can debate that) . If Anderson was elevated it might cost us somewhere else in the long run, there is always a balance to it. That being said with the state of the DT position right now ( Hargreave on I.R., Elliott dinged up) I hope they elevate him before another team beats them to it, in much the same way that we were able to get Jalen Graham back.

Definitely NOT saying losing him for the season was a net positive. But, we may find the defense overall improves if the uptick in early down run stopping holds. Maybe allows us to get back to a deeper fresher D-line rotation when he's back healthy where he plays obvious passing downs?

And yes, will acknowledge again that this is projection based on a single game against a terrible opponent and the trend may not hold.
