It is tough to do well in a season after a Super Bowl loss.
Only two teams have come back to win it all the next year - 1971 Cowboys and 2018 Patriots
It is good to know it can be done. You have to have faith.
It helps to know this isn't true - it's three teams: 1971 Cowboys, 1972 Dolphins, 2018 Patriots.
There have also been teams who won a SB and returned to it and lost (6), teams that lost back-to-back (4), and teams who won back-to-back (9).
Of the 116 Super Bowl teams 22 participants have returned the next year in total. That's 19%.
So, it's a 1/5 shot, statistically,, that either the Chiefs or 49ers return this year.
Won, returned and won: 9 (Packers, Dolphins, Steelers, Steelers, 49ers, Cowboys, Broncos, Patriots, Chiefs)
Won, returned and lost: 6 (Cowboys, Redskins, Packers, Seahawks, Patriots, Chiefs)
Lost, returned and won: 3 (Cowboys, Dolphins, Patriots)
Lost, returned and lost: 4 (Vikings, Bills, Bills, Bills)
